The RSC for February is aqua - turquoise. I have pulled some fabrics for 8 Bright Jane blocks. No promise how many I will get done. I will start with one.
I started teaching nine year old Ava to do embroidery. She learned to put on the hoop, separate the floss and thread a needle. She got stuck at making a knot. Not that I use knots when I do embroidery, but I thought it was time she learned how.
I finished the wreath on this BTCT block this week bring my total completed blocks to 14.
For the life of me, I have no idea why I called this 17-ufos-in-2017 quilt a Log Cabin. I did once make a brown Log Cabin quilt, but have no idea if I ever finished it or gave it away.
I decided to do simple diagonal curvy lines using some left over King Tut thread. Once I found the thread, it was easy peasy to get it started. However, what should have taken me a day to do has stretched into several days. Something about grand children and babysitting.
Why do they call this yellow stuff "Frog Tape?" It is neither sticky nor croaks.
Linking slow sunday stitching
Blessings,
Chris
LOL on the frog tape! You've got some gorgeous turquoises there!
ReplyDeleteStarting with one block is always an excellent begining. Looks like some beautiful blocks in the works.
ReplyDeleteMaking the selection of blocks and fabrics is always a good first step.
ReplyDeleteI like the look of your aquas, such a pleasing colour.
ReplyDeleteFun to see your variety of projects! What is the name of the quilt in your bottom photo? It has interesting blocks!
ReplyDeleteThe brown one? It is a crazy patch with no pattern that I made 20 years ago and quilted up this week. I still have to find a suitable fabric for the binding.
DeleteLooking forward to seeing how those AQUA and TURQUOISE blocks turn out!!
ReplyDeleteSo am I. I had a lot of foundation papers left over from my first Dear Jane and am using those first.
DeleteGood luck on Bright Jane!
ReplyDeleteI remember trying to teach my granddaughters how to embroider when they were a little younger than nine because they kept asking me to teach them. I started them on gingham embroidering Xs. The biggest problem was they couldn't keep their thread in the needle and then couldn't see to thread the needles themselves. Argggggh!
She had trouble threading the needle until I told her to change hands. I should find some larger needles before our next lesson.
DeleteYou have some great projects going! I, too, love the turquoise fabrics. You are further along with your RSC blocks than I am! I couldn't wait for February, so I could find out and get started with the new color, then couldn't find much of that color in my stash. So I am doing what I can with what I have. I will share next Saturday.
ReplyDeleteFurther along? I made one 4 1/2 inch purple block last month and pulled some fabrics for this month. Looking forward to see what you will have next week.
DeleteI am back working on Beyond the Cherry Tree. Doing the grapes block. Lots of circles.
ReplyDeleteI have been working on the grapes block for about 2 years now. I keep taking it along to work on but sometimes do not have enough light to see the pale purples. I started using the Karen K Buckley perfect circles AFTER I did both grapes blocks.
DeleteTurquoise is such a cheerful colour and I love your fabric choices for the Dear Jane blocks.
ReplyDeleteYou have some great aqua fabrics. Your applique and embroidery as so pretty. Enjoy your wavy quilting. Despite the name, that tape is a great idea for quilting.
ReplyDeleteThe Frog Tape appears to be a great idea, but what I have is not sticky like i expected it to be. I was looking for masking tape but thought these curves would be fun. I pinned it on but it kept moving. In the end, I just pinned it on once each direction then went free style. It is done.
DeleteSilly me! The frog tape had paper on the back to peel off. So I did. It did not stick well enough but it did stick.
DeleteLove your fabrics!! GOod luck getting to them ;-)
ReplyDeletePretty aqua's! Too funny on the frog tape - I have never heard of it!
ReplyDeleteI found it in the paint and tape section of my local Canadian Tire Store. Might find it in hardware stores.
DeleteHave fun teaching your granddaughter to sew. I am waiting for mine to be big enough.
ReplyDeleteI started teaching her when she was barely 3.
DeleteLovely projects all. Thanks for linking to WIPs Be Gone.
