We had my Sweet Farmer's family Christmas dinner today. It is the Saturday of the American Thanks Giving so all his brother's family can come up from New York. His mother rents her church hall and the siblings take turns hosting each year. The rest is potluck and we love it. What a joy to see all the next generation in the center of the room playing. Well, they start out in the center on the floor with toys and end up playing tag, but they are not my kids so I could sit back and watch. Eighteen great-grand children age from the second youngest, our David who is ten months to our Ava and Clark who are the oldest at nine. We see some of these kids once a year so it is always fun to try to remember who is who. Our Elly was carrying empty plates and cups to the kitchen, not so much to be helpful, but to hurry along dessert. Because when you are four and three quarters, dessert is what it is all about.
I have not yet started on the embroidery. I did buy some green floss for the many tiny stems but will get to those one day when I am bored or avoiding doing anything really important.
Blessings,
Chris
My goal this month was to complete five of the BTCT blocks. I had
several prepped and so far have completed three with four days left
until the end of the month.
To my defense, I had my daughter and the two little boys here for most of the week.
Tonight all three girls are coming for a sleepover.
So, I will stitch little purple grapes and yellow flower centers for as long as I can.
Blessings,
Chris
Good progress. I did not work on any of the blocks this month. Too busy on other projects.
ReplyDeleteI like the way your family does Thanksgiving. A pot luck makes everyone participate in the cooking and keeps one person from doing it all and suffering from exhaustion.
This was our family Christmas dinner. We are in Canada and celebrate Thanksgiving in October.
ReplyDeleteI did get all the purple grapes done and am doing the yellow flower centers right now since all the grandchildren have gone home and I m finally alone for a couple of hours.
Oh they do look really good, you've done a lot. Really enjoying seeing these blocks, I do like the yellow fabric in 3rd block. Sounds like a fun time with lots of family, pot luck is a very good idea! I've been working on a UFO 5 yr lap festive hanging, and just finishing the binding, feeling relief!
ReplyDeletethanks Lou. You come up as a no-reply blogger so I cannot email you. I once started a Christmas crewel picture of the 3 kings and worked on it a bit each Christmas. I wonder where the unfinished thing is after all these years?
DeleteThat was a tricky scalloped edge on the pot of the 3rd picture. It looks really nice.
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy. The blocks look lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhat absolutely gorgeous blocks. Enjoyed your Thanksgiving story, too...so cute.
ReplyDeleteA potluck is always the best because everyone brings their very best dishes / recipes! :)
ReplyDeleteLots of beautiful blocks here to work on and so many circles that you have prepped, whew!
I have to be honest, I cut the circles out quick with my GO cutter and glued them in place with the tiniest drop of Roxanne's glue then simply needle turned them. Not all are really round.
DeleteChris, I am avoiding a appliqué project at the moment, by doing other appliqué. I did not pick the project and that is why. The reason I do not sew for other people or let anyone know I am gifting them a quilt until it is done.
ReplyDeleteI love your blocks!
