OMG June Quilting Goals

I have been debating which of the 9 big quilts I am working on right now on which to commit to completing something. And the winner is . . . . . . . . The 1857 Quilt!
I plan to make the circles for the 1857 blocks. This is no easy feat. I finally located my missing Karen K Buckley perfect circles and now need to take some time to sit with them and complete four blocks. I cut out some circles with my GO cutter a long time ago. The June blocks will be released tomorrow and I can hardly contain myself!

1857 Blocks

I also plan to complete the quilting on my GORF quilt.  I have had the 16 machine appliqued blocks all machine quilted for more than a year. So now the goal is to complete the borders and quilt them. Next month I will plan to assemble it all using connecting strips. Still debating whether to use red or green. I guess it depends if I have enough of one colour or the other.

GORF in Progress

I almost started a new quilt last night. Almost. I gave in and bought the pattern for the Caswell Quilt from Sentimental Stitches. I have lots of shirting material and a couple of yards of suitable background already prewashed and ready to cut into background squares. And I got a new project box labeled with the pattern in it and am beginning to add some interesting fabrics. But alas, my daughter is arriving this week with those two little boy grand babies and I had to move  some  lots of fabric clutter from the white room to make room for them and I may forget where I moved all that fabric to. So, I just looked through the pattern packet to get an idea of what is involved. It will be a challenge to do simple back basting because the full sized patterns are black and white photos of the original blocks. There are pattern sheets for all the shapes. But I do not have to worry about any of that since I did not actually start it. Yet.

Blessings,
Chris

    1. Thank you. I spent so much time planning and preparing the thing, I forgot to complete it. But I have a purpose for it now.

  2. I love those circles from Karen. Circle making is easy with them - tedious, but easy. Blessings!

    1. I did try this method using a Loonie once. I will soon find out about the tedious part but will them be able to move forward on those unfinished blocks.

    1. Thanks. I started using the scraps from my Dear Jane quilt and other left overs. However, I did buy some solid repodruction green and cheddar from Mary's Wuilt Shop in Bedford Pennsylvania a couple of years ago.

    1. I saw the original Caswell quilt in Sustralia last year and could have bought the pattern and a starter pack but did not. Not sure why other than no room in a full suitcase.

    2. I had a friend who went to Australia. When she returned home, her suitcase was full of fabrics and projects. She had left her clothing in Australia.

  6. Dear Chris

We know the feeling, see a new one we want to start and then we have to tell ourselves, I have all these other projects on the back burner. I can tell you I did an honest, how many WIP's a while back and it was quite an eye opener, as there is more than I thought, closer to 80. So I put a stop to starting anything which was not on the list. I have started a list for when I finished these ones, also found the list of my old projects. I discovered I had finished everyone of them. So the dreaded list, is good and it works!

    1. I also have a list. Problem is, the newest one with all its excitement gets put on the top of the list and the others get buried.

  9. Love your projects, and I have six big projects as well, so I get it. Love, love, love visits from my Grandchildren, but they do require dropping projects and then trying to pick up where you left off. Thank you for sharing!

    1. I had a lot of time with the grandchildren this past week. I am not allowed to take pins to babysit anymore since my son found a green thread with a needle and I found a pin the other night. The youngest girl likes to look in my kit for thread and scissors so she can cut the thread into a thousand pieces, using only one hand on the scissors now.

  10. I have those circles too. They sure make life easier. Very intersting blocks for those circles.

    1. So, about those circles. I had cut 6 of the larger orange ones, but could only find 5 the last few times I pulled them out. Today. I took out the completed Dear Jane 2 blocks to put up on the wall to gloat, and I found the last orange circle in that box. Now how did it get in there?

  11. Nine quilts in progress! Wow. Good for you to keep them all in mind and keep all the pieces and blocks straight. Your blocks are beautiful. I always loving seeing red and green quilts, and your applique looks perfectly invisible!

    1. Thanks. Maybe I am more organized than I realize. Sometimes, its all in my head and I have to write it down or put it in a labeled box. Some days I pull them out and hang them on the design wall and gloat, or stress about what to do next before putting them back in their respective boxes.
