Wacky Is as Wacky Does, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

 ***********************************

It's been a most unusual and almost wacky week with lots of fun and almost wacky thankful things.

Grandma texted last Friday evening saying she was sick and so was Uncle J.  I told her I'd mask and glove up and stay away from them.

Uncle J was feeling rather sick and had been staying away from everyone, but Grandma had no symptoms except her usual chronic cough, the one induced by her years on a particular medication.  She was nowhere near as sick as Uncle J, and didn't seem like she had anything at all.

It was a bit wacky, too, Grandpa had no symptoms, even though he takes care of Grandma.

We're thankful everyone seems recovered by now.

We had some rain over that weekend and Sunday morning, just as Becca, Mr. Cal and i stepped out for our walk it started to drizzle.  At first we kept going, but when the drizzle got worse, we turned to go back in the house.

It was a bit wacky, if a thankful thing, as soon as we got back to the porch stairs the drizzle stopped.  We were able to take a walk after all, and we all know dogs are especially excited and thankful for every walk.

That afternoon i was thankful to babysit out at Aunt A's house, where #2 Son and His Bride are storing the RV.  It was rainy off and on and i found it a bit wacky the baby's favorite place to sleep was being rocked on the porch swing right in the middle of a storm.

Monday went its normal course until it was time to go see Ms. JAI.  She actually wanted me to come, but i arrived to find her doing something wacky, hiding her face behind her heating pad.

"I had all my teeth pulled and I'm bruised and I look so bad I made my daughter cover the mirror so I don't have to look at myself and I don't want anyone to see me!"

She spent the whole time i was there trying to cover her face, finally wrapping herself up like a babushka and tying a knot in her scarf right over her mouth so i could barely hear what she was saying.

Anyway, i was thankful she's finally having her teeth tended, she's had a terrible time.

After i was done cleaning, she sent me to the pharmacy at the worst time of day to get Sucrets for her sore mouth.  I was thankful i somehow managed to miss the worst of the traffic, both ways as well as going home later, and thankful she accepted a Vicks products when it turns out the pharmacy doesn't have Sucrets brand in-store.

Because we get a newspaper, i'd promised a neighbor to drop off old papers because they now have a pet bird and want paper to line the cage.

Tuesday morning i was thankful to be able to drop the papers off, i like to see them used for something.  It was rather wacky, later, the wife sent me a message saying she wouldn't need my papers as someone had dropped papers off that morning to her husband, and we both laughed when i sent the message back that i was the one who had done it!

I'm also thankful she wants papers every week, so now i know where mine are going to go.

Once the papers were out of the way, it was time to go to Ms. V's and pick her up for the ladies' circle meeting.  It was a bit wacky, after we got everything loaded in her car, to find her car wouldn't start!

I was thankful my GusGus has heat and thankful this happened in winter, it would be brutal to try to make her ride in the hotbox with no A/C to a meeting in warm months.

I'm also thankful she was a good sport about riding in my old beater.

This was also the day my Sweetie took Link Linker the Stinker to the vet as he'd developed very stinky and soft poop.  They took the samples and took blood and sent him home with meds.

Two days later we were thankful to find out there's nothing wrong with him, and the meds are working he doesn't have the nasty poop any longer.

The wacky thing is, after he threatened more than once to take my hand off while giving him meds, i'm thankful i decided to buy chicken baby food and mix his meds in it.  He's eating ever scrap and getting his meds painlessly for both of us.

Ms. G called to tell me she's sick and not to come Wednesday except to pick up a check for the work i'd done when she was out of town.  Then that morning she called to ask me to go to the grocery for her after doing my other work.

It was a bit wacky the way she wanted me to do all the work, including on the other side of town, then come back to her side to shop.  I'm thankful she agreed i could get her stuff before leaving the area.  I'm also thankful i got home a good bit earlier than i usually do on Wednesdays.

Anyone who reads our every-other-week saga with the recalcitrant gate knows Ms. SE's place can be difficult.  It was wacky, they've supposedly fixed the gate, but it turns out you have to hold the special clickers at a certain angle and a certain distance, and if you use the pad at the gate you have to be careful how quickly you tap in the numbers...

We're thankful we got in, thankful we got it all done, and thankful Mr. DE was there to close the gate behind us.

Ms. GA texted after i was asleep Thursday night to tell me Mr. BA was sick and we wouldn't meet at the church for prayer, but just over the phone, and also i shouldn't come clean the house.

I didn't get the message until morning, and just as i did she texted he was okay and what did i want to do?

I told her i was going to the church to make coffee for the other meeting they have there every Friday, and then i had an errand and i'd come over, but we could still do the prayer call.

The wacky is she texted back, "Let's play it by ear."

I had no clue what she meant, but i'm thankful i got my last measurements done for my lenses for cataract surgery coming up and thankful Mr. BA was feeling okay when i went over there to clean.

Then there was the shelter yesterday for the evening shift.  I walked in to a wacky crowded place which had been empty 20 minutes before and they did 5 adoptions in 30 minutes!  Then all of them left with their cats and the place was totally quiet the rest of the evening.

We're just thankful it happened, even if it all had to happen at once.

Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Clark and his co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.

A Trio (Feline Friday), Friendly Fill-Ins and Nature Friday

 ***********************************

Feline Friday was originally started by Steve, The Burnt Food Dude (may he rest in peace), and i'm going to believe it's because he liked cats.

He handed hosting duties off to Sandee at Comedy Plus, and now she's entrusting it to me.

Feline Friday is simple to join.  All you have to do is: Post a picture, drawing, cartoon or video of a cat (they may be silly or cute).  Then add your link!

One thing for sure is this is a fun and easy meme to do.  So come and join us in Feline Friday.

What better way to start the weekend than with a feline!

Their mama was Margarita, these are Salt, Lime and Ice!

It's not easy to get good shots of kittens, especially in the cages.
