Backyard Wildlife Wednesday

This week on BWW, we are taking another look at the Northern Flicker. We have a few pairs that have been living in our backyard for the past couple of years. As you'll be able to see, they all  really enjoyed the seed cake!

As always, feel free to visit our YouTube Channel HERE

We saw Mama making some surprised faces when she was looking at the latest footage from TC last night. We can't wait to see who has been visiting our backyard during the warmer nights of Spring!

The Year of the Mother Road

Happy Travel Tuesday!!  Today we are visiting the Enchanted Trails RV Park and Trading Post off of Route 66 right here in Albuquerque!

Enchanted Trails was originally a trading post that opened back in the late 1940s.

The pawrents wanted to check out this RV park as a possible place to visit with RC. It is only 20 minutes away and perfect if we just needed to "get away" after a rough week.  Although we didn't stay at this park, Mama did walk around with Daddy and they found a fun little group of old time trailers and cars!

The pawrents said it felt like they were transported back in time!

Most of these trailers are available to stay in for a fun retro vacation!

Mama had fun playing with the pictures she took. She thought it would be fun to have them travel back on time to the age of the older cars and travel trailers!

Which do you like more...the sepia type color....

or the silvery black and white???

and just in case you were wondering what the vintage trailer park looks like in color....

Mama says this is the trailer/car combo she would have chosen "back in the day"

You will probably be seeing a lot of Route 66(aka the Mother Road) around here this travel season. You see, next year is the 100th Anniversary of when the Mother Road opened in 1926! This year we will be visiting Tucumcari, NM again(next weekend) and in May we will be traveling to Grants, NM again! You can bet Mama will be taking lots of pictures, so fun blog posts will follow!

You  never know, this might be the year we get to go farther North on Route 66!

A girl can dream, right???

Happy St Patrick's Day!

May your day be filled with joy and cheer,
With luck and blessings throughout the year.

And happiness in your heart always flow.

Early Greens in the Backyard

Welcome to Nature Friday, where we get to meet new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. This week, we took a walk around our backyard and were thrilled to see all the green starting to peek through!

The Choke Cherry tree is starting to bloom...

The red leaves of the maple tree are sprouting and reaching toward the sun....

The lilac bush is ready for Spring to get here...

Mama hopes it slows down just a little, so these pretty flower buds keep sprouting!!

We have some early blooms too!

The forsythia is slowly starting to bloom...

The star of the backyard right now though, are the Crocus flowers!

They are sprouting through the rocks and reaching for the sky!

Their blooms always let us know that Spring is really on its way!!

Only one more week until Spring is officially here. Have you seen any signs of it yet??

No matter what your weather is, we hope you all get out and see some nature this weekend!

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

Thankful for Flurries Thursday

The best kind of snow, is the kind you aren't expecting!
I am very thankful that when I woke up last Saturday morning, the ground was covered in white!!

Not only that, but it was still flurrying a little!

Although it didn't last long, I am thankful I got to see a few more flurries of snow before Spring gets here for good!!

Thank you Angel Brian for hosting the

Cruisin' With Mama on Travel Tuesday

As you might remember, we let Mama go on a cruise with her BFF a couple of weeks ago. We stayed home with Daddy(who did a great job taking care of us). Today, we are letting Mama tell you about her first cruise ever.

Thanks Sunny!!
I had a great time reconnecting with one of my oldest and dearest friends as we sailed from Tampa, Florida to the Bahamas on the Norwegian Jewel! As a admirer of all things ocean, it was wonderful being out on the cobalt blue water!

As I mentioned, we sailed from Tampa and enjoyed the first part of our journey out to the Gulf from our balcony. We were lucky enough to watch a beautiful sunset....

Of course, I found a lighthouse....did you have any doubt? LOL

The Jewel is one of Norwegian's smaller ships, which is wild...because it seemed humongous to me!

With 12 decks, a "broadway sized" entertainment theatre, a large pool, full sized spa, 5 or more restaurants AND a large buffet area, I can't imagine anything bigger!

Did I mention the balcony??  Better to see all that cobalt blue!

The ship stopped at Stirrup Cay, a small island owned by Norwegian, and we made the short trip from the boat to the island for the morning.

and look what I found.... another lighthouse!
Not an actual working lighthouse, but a beautiful structure they used to run their Zip Lines.

Of course, there were also tons of photo opportunities too!

After the morning in Stirrup Cay, we spent the rest of the time on the ship catching up and enjoying waaaayyyy too much good food and drink! I was very impressed with the quality and selection of foods at the different restaurants, along with the buffet. They also made it a priority, especially in the buffet, of making sure you sanitized your hands before entering.

My thoughts on cruising, after my first cruise? I would do it again, but probably only to Alaska, or a river cruise in Europe might be nice. But the cruises you see advertised on TV with water slides and LOTS of people aren't my cup of tea. I would definitely need a ship no bigger than the Norwegian Jewel, and a whole bunch of different places to visit!

Here is a video I put together:

Of course, the best part of the trip was spending time catching up with my BFF !

Thanks Sunny, for letting me share my adventure today!
Ummmm, you mean I had a choice?? BOL
No problem Mama....but we better be part of your next adventure!!
