The First Friday in March AND the start of the weekend!

Morning

Doesn't get better than this does it? First weekend in March ... means Spring has started, nights are drawing out AND it's the weekend, right?! At least it was ..... until the moment Storm Emma breezed through with the minus temperatures and the snow.

Anyone else with me on SOOOO being OVER the winter weather already? Just had to make a more cheerful and SUMMERY ATC ....

My ATC
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippets of card in white and Kraft
  • On the Kraft layer I stamped the Imagination Crafts lines (from Distress set #1) using Memento rich cocoa
  • On the white snippet I stamped the beach signage and seagulls using Memento tuxedo black ink and the sun using Memento dandelion ink
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour the scene and Tsukineko gelly roll glitter gel pens in gold, red and black - to highlight

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Colour Inspiration - challenge No. 31 - ANYTHING HAND COLOURED
  2. Pause Dream Enjoy - challenge No. 9 - STAMPED IMAGE
  3. Addicted to Stamps - challenge No. 281 - ANYTHING GOES
  4. A Perfect Time To Craft - March challenge - ANYTHING GOES

And, with The Beast from the East hitting the UK this week and Storm Emma approaching from the south ... who could think of summer for very long (without shivering) so ...... another Christmas card. I recently acquired the fab Paper Artsy set ZA19 as I totally LOVED the reindeer face (having first seen it at the HLS craft retreat in November 2017) but was afraid I would never use the line of "finger puppet" characters .... determined to make use of at least one of them ......... turns out they're pretty cool too!

My card
And a closer view of the colouring and twinkling H2O's

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • White A2/C6, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to fit
  • One piece of gold card cut to mat
  • Snippets of white card (to stamp my image and another run through my Big Shot inside a script embossing folder)
  • Paper Artsy penguin image (from ZA19) stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink including on to a snippet which, once coloured, I fussy cut ready to attach to my background panel
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour, blending with Sansodor and a paper stump
  • I brayered some blue and white paint on to the smaller white card panel and set it aside to dry
  • I cut a "slope" from the embossed panel and, once my brayered panel was dry adhered my snow slope to it before flicking twinkling H2O "icicle" over it using a fan brush
  • MFT "Merry" and "Christmas" sentiments (from CS-83 Hand Lettered Holiday) stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Using dimensional foam tape (on the top half only) and tombow glue I attached my penguin to my image panel

I'll be entering the above for the following challenges:-
  1. Christmas at Sweet Stampin' - February challenge - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES
  2. A Snowflakes Promise - challenge No. 48 - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES
  3. The Holly and The Ivy - challenge No. 23 - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES
  4. WaterCooler Wednesday - challenge No. 159 - ALL ABOUT CHRISTMAS
  5. Merry Christmas Challenge - challenge No. 9 - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES + optional twist of SNOWMAN

The pretty beach scene ATC is certainly floating my boat Kathy, especially looking at all the snow outside at the moment, butcwhich is more akin to your beautiful Christmas card using that fun PA penguin in this super wintry scene. x

Hi Kathy, what a cute penguin! From the look on his face, he is about as delighted with more snow as I am. Great use of the dry embossing in the snow at his feet. The texture gives it a wind-blown look. I love that background! Actually it simply feels cold because of those colours and the illusion of snow coming down. Great work colouring that chilly penguin. Love it! Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

Great cards Kath. Hard not to be a bit schizophrenic over spring and winter weather systems continuing to clash. One can only hope that all systems improve. Your penguin is really sweet and beautifully coloured and set up on his mound of snow. I like how you used the script EF to create the snow texture and added the H2Os to create the sparkle. Good thinking! Thanks so much for sharing at the Watercooler Wednesday All about Christmas Challenge this week.
