On Monday night I get a bit more quilting done on Murrieta Stars – it really is coming along nicely – I do get bent needles but only when I am going through some thick seams and got a strange hold on to the needle by accident. The needles are working out otherwise.

A close up of the stitches – the actual color of the fabric is somewhat between the two of these – can never get this color just right.

Almost done with this one and planned to finish it last night while watching NCIS. I am linking to Sew Fresh Quilts — Midweek Makers #98 — Jo’s Country Junction — and Quilt Infatuation.

Aniya’s 6th birthday is at the end of the week and Melanie brought her over to open a present I got her – a big jug of craft supplies

And she had made this for me before she left – she also threaten to steal my quilts and bring them home with her – she is so silly – and yes she has one that I made her but she wanted The Final Frontier that is back on the bed – she can’t have it – it’s mine LOL

The Final Frontier made last year and finished at the end of the year – my winter quilt – wool batting- hand quilted, needle turn applique

Lovely quilt and what a beautiful little girl!
thanks – and yes Aniya is a beautiful little girl
Warm family connections really get me…we need a lot of this. Is she interested in sewing?? And your site is where I know I can find lovely hand quilting..
I wouldn’t say Aniya is interested in sewing but she is interested in adding scraps to her pile of craft pieces she glues them on to things – I don’t see her often enough to get her interested that much
Love the quilt on your bed – just beautiful – can see why you would want to
keep it – looks so warm and snuggly…
yes I love this quilt and it went together rather quickly really last year – I became addicted to those circles and kept on making them – it was supposed to be a “make one a day” think and I started to make five or more a day
Aniya has good taste in quilts! My favorite is still the one you made with the turquoise dots.
for the life of me I can’t remember one with a lot of turquoise dots – maybe Going In Circles – it has a lot of circles in it of all colors and turquoise border?
Hi Karen,
Wool batting? I am going to be making a quilt for myself for the first time (finally!) and am leaning toward wool batting. Mostly because I am ALWAYS cold, even in the summer. I am thinking that will be warmer . . . just wondering how you like it, etc. Aniya is adorable, and how sweet of her to make you something special before she left. <3 I sure love how Murrieta Star is turning out – so beautiful. ~smile~ Roseanne
I like wool batting but it is more expensive. some people say they use it for summer quilts too but we find this quilt right for winter but too heavy for summer. Aniya a cutie for sure – she is spoiled rotten too – the only small child in our son in law’s family and has everyone twisted around their little finger.
It’s funny how off some colors look when you photograph them. I have a lot of trouble with that! Such a sweet little girl – I can see why she wants that quilt! It’s so amazing!
she is a cutie – glad to have her as part of our extended family
The quilting looks beautiful! I especially like the change between the two strips of squares, as it really adds interest. Keep up the good work!
thanks Susan
I love the way you are quilting Murrieta Stars Karen, so lovely. Aniya is such a little beauty and so smart to want your beautiful quilt! It’s so nice to see it on your bed. Yesterday was in the 80s and today in the 70s, such a strange fall. I had to water my houseplants this morning, they are still outside, so far no frost.
we have no frost still, but have had a couple cold nights – one day we will get frost but probably towards the end of the month.
Isn’t it funny how some quilts are so hard to photograph–the colors just don’t play nice. I’ve had a few that seem like will never look as good in the picture as they do in person. And of course Aniya loves the Final Frontier quilt! It’s like an eye spy quilt.:)
I have had trouble getting the true color of this quilt since the beginning – the mustard yellow just doesn’t want to come through right. Aniya is such a cutie – so glad she had become part of our family the last couple of years.
Karen Felicidades a Pitufina,.
entiendo que quiera tus colchas son todas bonitas
thanks Belarmina – yes I love all the quilts and the little one has a quilt of her own already!
I love your Final Frontier, but how can you say no to that face? She is such a cutie
You have to be strong or this beautiful kid will walk all over you 🙂 she has everyone twisted around her little finger – she is the only small child in my son in law’s family!! She does have a quilt I made her a couple years back
