The Postage Stamp Quilt

I have had many of you over the last several weeks ask how is it going with the hand quilting on the Postage Stamp quilt – I must admit that I do not care for sitting on the couch with the hoop and that big quilt draped all over the place trying to quilt it.  I was so used to the 3 roller that I seem to only like hand quilting on it and not the hoop.  But after all the questions I thought I better get back to work on it and have put in 4 hours of quilting over the last couple days.  It is hard to show progress on it as it all looks the same but here is the area I am working on.  This is the 3rd section in the time since I started yesterday – so progress!

Several of you have asked for close ups of the neutral colors being used in the Propeller quilt – here are some – also asked was how do I decide what piece to use where – I really just grab and put something in place and see if I like it – if I do I use it if I don’t I look to see what another will look like.  There is no big plan – the joy of scraps is almost anything works.

I decided that I will add this red border next – it is a print I don’t know if you can see that in the photo – it is just pinned to the wall right now and I will try to sew it today.  Next up will be a mixture of the neutrals again – I think in about 6 inch strips or so patched together, then another of the red – something like that anyhow.   This red just sets it off nicely I think – I had a 4 yard piece in the stash that I got for $3.99 a yard from Hancock’s of Paducah several years ago.  Linking to Confessions of a Fabric Addict and Crazy Mom Quilts.
