On to the Half Square Triangles

All of the diagonal rows are now sewed on the Retro Air Ship Propeller so it is time to take it to the next step of adding half square triangles along the sides and then the 4 corners.  I had to look through fabric on the shelves to see what I had that I could use – I knew I would have some but would it be enough.  I think so!  I think I can find enough in this stack to use.

All the rows are sewed – add the ends and then start sewing all together and add a border – and no I’m not positive what the border well be.  Linking to Sew Fresh Quilts, Jo’s Country Juction , Quilt Fabrication: Midweek Makers and My Quilt Infatuation.

The corner was sewn in place on Handful of Scraps and now I will start on the little bits needed on the left side working my way down to the corner.

But first I need to thread baste more neutral hexies to get a good mix up.  I don’t know what I am doing for sure for a border for this quilt either – I will figure it out soon.  I have a lot of cut out pieces in my box – I sure hope I didn’t go crazy and cut way too many!!  Would prefer to not have a lot left over when I get done with this quilt.

We had snow showers 4 times yesterday – yes I say showers because it came down like rain but was snow melting as it hit the ground – each time was 10 minutes or less.  Sure was pretty never got above 39 degrees and all the trees in blossom and down to maybe 27 last night!  I know a lot of  you on the east coast way up to the north had a lot more snow than I did for certain I hope you have not lost your power or trees.  Stay safe quilting friends and stitch away – to flashlight if you need to Smile

Both projects are looking great! Have you touched your hand quilting at all?

When you’re ready to appliqué handful of scraps can you show how you get everything to lay flat?

That looks like plenty of fabric for the HSTs you need to finish the rows. I hope you have fun sewing and working on it this week!

Seeing your yardage stash neatly wrapped and shelved is either a treat or a guilt trip for me. Better yet… an incentive. The propeller quilt gets a smiley .

It’s so wonderful to see all the different colors of Propeller blocks all put up on your wall. It’s going to be a beautiful quilt. Handful of Scraps represents a lot of handwork. Quite a feat I would say. I bought my herbs today at the nursery. It certainly was busy though. It was a beautiful sunny day and the nursery was filled with new spring shipments of plants. There were so many new variegated ones of the plain herbs, it was amazing. This is the best time of the year.

The Propeller Quilt is coming together beautifully, as are your hexies. Happy stitching this week.
