A while back, I saw a rainbow quilt made out of scraps on Crazy Mom Quilts' blog, here.
My blue drawer was getting too full, where I couldn't cram (literally) any more tiny scraps in there.
I went through the drawer and cut a bunch of 2 1/2" squares, with the idea of putting 36 together in a block.
I was in LOVE with the finished block, after it was ironed.
Not so exciting before ironing though.
Weird, I know.
So, thoroughly distracted from my other projects by now, I started on the reds.
I couldn't stop.
Went through all my scraps, and still have a BUNCH left over.
My friend at Confessions of a Fabric Addict blog, here, gave me sound advice to use a charcoal fabric between blocks.
I had asked her if the blocks should be together or sashed.
The finished top is too wide for even Andy's 6 foot wingspan to hold out straight!
Lighting wasn't too great for this, but these are some blocks I fell in love with.
And more.
See how the un-ironed red ones aren't that exciting?
Until they're ironed.
They were SO fun to put together!
I turned to Facebook friends to let me know which design layout they liked best.
WOW! The design I ended up doing had hundreds of votes.
Both friends and people on the quilting page.
This one reminded a few of Tetris.
This was the clear favorite, but some really didn't like the black and white squares.
So, I switched it up some.
When I first finished the front, I found out it was long and skinny.
Figures...I had laid it out to fit on our dining room table!
I like to be done with projects, but decided I wouldn't be happy if I didn't make a couple more columns to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
*sigh*
It was so worth the now-finished top!
Now, I've got to figure out the quilting on it.

Beautiful!!! I love the rainbowcolors.
That looks great! The addition of the charcoal sashing really pulls the entire quilt together. What a great use of scraps!
Wow!!! What a great rainbow scrap quilt! And I love my quilts long and skinny. I especially love your turquoise blocks.
