Hexies and Hopscotch

Yesterday was another day this week when a lot of sewing didn’t get done.  We all know how it is that week before Christmas don’t we.  Things tend to get a little hectic even if you do not do a lot of gift buying or entertaining.

I finally finished the hexagon that I started days ago for the Handful of Scraps quilt – I really don’t know why it took so long – I just kept getting interrupted I guess.   The hexie added is on the left side the one touching the Love Entwined quilt.  So looking at the photo I think I need to make six more hexies before the quilt starts to be squared off with more hexagons – then a border to decide on.  Linking to Confessions of a Fabric Addict and Quilt Fabrication and Crazy Mom Quilts.

I have fabric cut for one more flower and started to baste – I started glue basting again instead of thread basting.  I saw a tutorial on pinterest where it showed how to glue baste hexies without getting it all over the paper which can sometimes make the paper stick to hard and be tough to get off – that is why here and there you might see a spot of glue – I got messy.  I was going to link to the tute and now I can’t find it! – remind me and I will take photos next time – I know I wouldn’t  explain it well LOL

Hopscotch is going to Melanie – she hasn’t had a new quilt in awhile.  I got the label stitched on and got it with her other present – which I will show later as she sometimes reads my blog – she knows she is getting hopscotch – that really isn’t a Christmas present – I had asked her the other day if she wanted it and then remembered I hadn’t got the label on it yet so stuck it with the present as it looks pretty that way.  I will need to check with Jessica on if she would like a new quilt and keep that in mind over the new year.  The girls both have 5+ quilts – really and the grands do too.  That is why I decided to ask from now on if they want one – one can start to get overloaded with quilts!

Melanie made a sale for me yesterday – a co-worker placed interest in buying a small quilt as she had seen the ones I donated last year to the library for a raffle.   Butterfly Parade has gone on to it’s new home – in Japan – it is being sent as a present to a person who is supposed to really enjoy these type of colors and handmade!  I finished this quilt in the middle of summer.

If anyone is ever interested in purchasing one of my quilts just ask if it is for sale – I try to price reasonable.  Of course if a quilt is hand pieced or hand appliqued and hand quilted it will be higher priced – but small quilts like this one that I machine quilted straight lines are I price on the low side.  Just ask – I do not figure out the cost of my quilts as professionals do – by the hours worked and the cost of all supplies – it is one thing if you want to make a living by selling your quilts and a totally different thing if you are making your quilts in your spare time because that is just what you want to do.  I can not sit still and not pick up a needle or a book – I can not have my hands idle – it just isn’t me.

I have not made these cookies and just saw a photo of them today – Anyone see this?  I don’t know where you find a cookie cutter for mittens but cute.  Crazy Quilt mitten cookies.  I have made too many cookies and will not make more!! But they are cute.  I bet you have to special order a cookie cutter like this.  Just thought I would share the link – cute aren’t they would look great on the tree.
