We've been working on this room again. Just giving it a few tweaks.
It's gone from this (before we moved in)
to this (after we moved in)
to this (last summer)
(Daughter has changed a bit too.)
The IKEA built-ins were great but the room still wasn't functioning to its full potential. We couldn't see her bed most of the time because it was covered with everything she didn't put away.
We thought about ripping out the built-ins and starting over but they do keep her organized, we just had to utilize every inch of space in the best possible way and give her a few more surfaces and storage options
This was her only light source and it took up a lot of visual floor space. Can you say eye sore?
She also wanted a new paint color.
Off to camp she went (after selecting said color: Benjamin Moore Buttercup) and some new bedding.
The rest of us lived like this for a few days.
The spare room looked like this.
Prepping her room to paint.
Hiding from the chaos, do you blame her?
The paint goes on the wall.

WOW! The transformations that room has gone through baffles me :) I love the build-ins! And the color is definitely a phase for a 16-year old :) I can't wait to see it all finished!
Ohhhhhhhhhhh, this ought to be good....
Oh, how exciting! I'm so envious of those built-ins... can't wait to see the new wall color and other changes!

With teens you can never have too much storage space...so they can one day leave it all at your house when they get married and move away! LOL Believe me, it happens :D
OOOH! I can't wait to see the big reveal!
