Applique & Hexies

Another nice morning on the porch yesterday but by afternoon I was driven in by the heat!  I managed to get the flower arrangement I was working on finished so that makes clusters done on this first border.  Each group is just a little different.  This Postage Stamp quilt border is really like none I have done before and I am quite enjoying it.

Plenty of room in between these clusters for more.

I got the neutral hexies rearranged a bit for Handful of Scraps and added on to this side.  Keep in mind that if you think some of the color is not quite to your liking that there are plenty more to go in this quilt – this is just the center – it is going to take quite awhile to finish this one!

Remember this one I showed awhile back – it was a Craftsy kit.  Well I didn’t buy the kit because I knew I had plenty to work with here at home and it is one of those  type that you can really make any size and color.  I got out some squares to work with and cut them to size.  I am linking to Confessions of a Fabric Addict today and Fort Worth Fabric Studio and Crazy Mom Quilts.

Flower type of fabrics that I usually do not have but these came in some of those Frivol Boxes that I had ordered.  Two sets and white from the stash – enough cut right now for 75 blocks.  No name for this one right now other than “Nine Patch”.  The fabric included in the Frivol Boxes were supposed to be 7 inches square but we all know that if you order pre-cuts and a lot of us do – we know that they are not all cut the size they are supposed to be.  These were supposed to be 7 inches but that means some on one end were more like 6.75 or less – I trimmed them all down to 6.5 and then cut them into four pieces at 3.25 each so these blocks will be an odd size but because I am not a perfect piecer I will be trimming finished blocks later most likely.  This will be an old fashion looking quilt – but I need a sewing machine project for those hot afternoons now and then while I hibernate in the house from the heat.

All of Craftsy classes are on sale for $19.99 or less through June 13th.  If you have been thinking about any classes in particular now is the time to get them.  Visit Craftsy now

I think each border should have a butterfly or bee landing 🙂

Your postage stamp border is looking good. I really like the quilt pattern for the new project. 9-patches are so much fun to make. Blessings, Gretchen
