Meh - that title just sounded good. We'll probably have tacos or Taco Bell for dinner tonight but we don't "celebrate" - altho a margarita would taste pretty good right about now!
Buddha Rusty
I put Rusty & his belly first because I didn't want the following to be the post thumbnail!
First of all - I survived the annual SAR team Pack Test!
This is the 3rd year we've done this - we're supposed to load up a 25lb pack (more like a pack that identifies as 25lbs - LOL!!) and go hike 1.5 miles just to see how we do.
It sure felt like it took longer than 36 minutes!
I was in a lot better mindset this year. Last year I thought for sure I was going to drop dead and couldn't hardly make it up the last hill, I didn't want to be there, etc etc. We were in a different location this time and when it was time to go, I just grabbed my hiking poles and set out. Even chatted with one of the new guys for a bit, when we passed some "clues" that were staged out in the woods for a class that was going on. I was kind of concerned about my hips hurting like they have been, but I made sure to take some Aleve before I left home and even my knees did OK.
My only problem is that I thought it was going to be muddy so I wore my new winter boots - so I almost had blisters and my feet were HOT.
Afterward, Sis1 and I went to have some breakfast and then back to her house to change - of course I forgot regular shoes! So I had to wear my SAR boots, but they were cool and comfortable after those winter boots. We had seen an event on Facebook for a little antique store not far from her house, so the plan was to do some shopping! This place had a bunch of neat farmhouse type antiques & decor in their 100 year old barn. The ladies working there gave us a piece of paper with 5 other places also having sales! All these little stores / garage sales coordinated to be open on the same day, so we visited them all!
This is the only thing I bought - and it cost me a whopping $4!
It's really about 5 feet tall and will be easy to pin to the ground so it doesn't fall over.
Oh, and for some eye-candy (for me anyway, but I'm weird) while we were in the barn, I could hear some planes outside. I went to the window and looked out just in time to see 2 A-10 Thunderbolts cruise by! They're basically a flying machine gun. Very badass. I'm 99.9998% sure they're from the Air National Guard base that's almost directly to the east of my house. We're usually see Chinook helicopters going by, not so much any of the planes stationed there, so it was cool.
Yesterday it was rainy all day, so the little Monsters were going stir-crazy being stuck inside.
So we went for a walk out in the rain!
The soggy flowers were still pretty!
Back in my Easter post, I joked about throwing the grandkids into a dumpster.
We found one!
We have lived in our house for 23-ish years and there's a little diner at the end of our street that has maybe been open 1 of those years in total. A couple months here, a couple months there, etc. It's always been closed. The Spouse got food there once, I never had. Right next door to it was a sketchy little liquor store that also closed last year. In early March, there was a banner hanging on the diner that a burger joint was coming soon and an excavator was parked in the lot. Last week, 2 dumpsters were dropped off next to the diner. This morning on my way past, there were 2 guys out there and a third dumpster being dropped off. The Spawn drove by at lunchtime and saw the liquor store was being torn down! This is the excitement in our town. Will they also be tearing down the diner or adding on to it?
We want to know!!!
Or we can just watch & find out.

OMG - Last week I swear I got abducted by aliens or something!
I was at work Tuesday, which is usually a slow day anyway. I was going piddly stuff, attempting to keep myself busy. I glanced at the clock in the bottom corner of my monitor. It was 2pm. I looked again a couple minutes later (so I thought!) and it was 4:30pm!! My day ends at 3:30pm!! No idea what happened. I'm glad it wasn't a day where I had something going on after work!
2 weeks ago, the Grandson started flag football (that's him in the orange shoes). It's nice to see him in an activity with kids his physical size! I just wish the coach would explain things more to the kids - some of them have clearly played before, but those who haven't just kind of stand around looking lost.
This tree in my yard is only pretty in the spring! It smells so good and the flowers glow in the sunshine. We almost always have a robin's nest every year. Then the leaves start turning yellow as soon as it gets hot and will drop them starting August.
Adios, for now!
