It's another Saturday and a challenge post from me .....

Hi there readers and followers,

Welcome to my Saturday post which, as usual, contains a make (or in this case two) for some challenges ..

My card

The front, back and inside of my card and the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • White 5 x 7", 300gsm, scallop edged card blank and matching sized envelope
  • Three pieces of post it note, two for masking off an area of my card and one as a mask for my focal image
  • White gesso applied with tissue to the masked area on my card
  • Inkadinkado fish stamped using Ranger Archival black (also on to one of the post it's, cut out and used as a mask)
  • Distress Crayon in mermaid lagoon + Crayola Slick Stix in light and dark blue applied to the gesso'd area and blended with a moistened finger
  • TCW stencil used with a baby wipe, to knock back colour in wavy lines and circles to add texture and the illusion of waves
  • Zig clean colour brush markers in neon yellow and orange plus violet - to colour image
  • Inkadinkado sentiment stamped using Ranger Archival jet black
  • For the image on the insert, reverse and envelopes I used Ranger Archival watering can ink instead of the black

I'll be entering this for the following challenges:-
  1. Simply Less Is More - challenge No. 276 - AT SEA and, yes, it's the dreaded One Layer Card week!
  2. Just add ink - challenge No. 311 - MASKING
  3. Fussy and Fancy - challenge No. 163 - BIRTHDAYS - hope all the blending, masking and stencilling is fancy enough
  4. Seize the Birthday - May 5th challenge - BIRTHDAYS with the optional topping of COLOURING (which I DID use)

I've also got an ATC to share with you today, I'd tried ALL of the colours in my two sets of Distress Crayons, bar the chipped sapphire so I thought it was time to remedy this .... I know at least one of my friends who will like the colour scheme (if not the ATC) given that it's BLUE!

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippets of card in navy, light blue and white
  • White gesso, applied to the white card panel using a baby wipe
  • Distress Crayons: mermaid lagoon and chipped sapphire, blended with a moistened finger
  • Colour knocked back using TCW and Tim Holtz stencils and a baby wipe
  • Dylusions border stamp and Stampers Anonymous circles inked with a Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • Once dry I used the Renaissance white gel pen to draw in the numbers and make them bolder and to add doodles to the border

I'll be entering the above ATC for the following challenges:-
  1. Crafty Gals - challenge No. 71 - Polka DOTS or STRIPES (both featured)
  2. Create and Inspire - challenge No. 45 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Creative Fingers - challenge No. 109 - ANYTHING GOES

Ever take a "throwaway" photo (in a hurry or without too much thought) and then discover you really like it? Well this is my most recent ..... I couldn't see exactly what I was taking because of the bright sunshine but boy, am I glad I bothered!!! What's not to love? You got blue skies, sea, beautiful sands, palm trees .. need I say more?

Have a great weekend

Fabulous fishy card Kathy. That was a great idea to use the gesso, very effective. Gosh, wish I was using my distress crayons as much as you seem to be - you've created some beautiful pieces with them. In love with your throwaway picture too because it is gorgeous.
Thanks for playing along with us at Less is More.
