When Funk Junk Interiors SNS
weekly theme party was for something old,
I knew just what I wanted to share with you...
(click photos to enlarge)
This gorgeous Victorian frame
has been sitting on my desk for weeks!
(yes a garage sale purchase :-)
I have been walking by admiring its beauty...
waiting to have the time to open it up
and revamp it...
Because someone did this to it!
Today I finally opened it up hoping to find
the original contents..
But no.
The only thing of interest was
the backing was made from a grocery bag
advertising green stamps!
I loved to collect those as a kid
and dream over the goodies in the catalog :-)
Anyway...
Isn't she a beauty?
It was hard to capture the domed glass...
The lower corners carved wood detailing..
An upper corner...
cracked and crazed to delightful perfection :-)
The gorgeous top...
A close up of the amazing neoclassical leaves...
Now come the hard parts..
I bought it with every intention of painting it
to a shabby perfection...
But I do love the original classic gold too...?
Then I have to find the perfect item to display...?
What a wonderful problem to have :-)
Today I am joining
Funk Junk Interiors for SNS Old Things
Debbiedoo's for Garage Salen Party
Southern Hospitality for Todays Thrifty Treasures
Come join in...
Thanks for visiting me today!

Bella-that is a really neat curved glass frame. I had one of those and gave it away and now I could just kick myself...well...I can't actually kick myself but I suppose I could SLAP myself! It's a great old piece and I'll bet you find something wonderful to put it in. What's the matter? You don't like the flowers? And here I thought that you were THE flower girl!
Make sure you stop by my blog tomorrow-there might be a little surprise there for you...xxoo Diana

That is a great find Bella! And to have purchased it at a garage sale is even a better deal. I like the gesso detailing all over the frame. Thanks for sharing....Julian
What a gorgeous frame. I think I would leave it gold - but that is me and not you.
Just yummy......and that is the kind of frame and convex glass they use to put vintage baby bonnets in and such too.
Of so many idea's for it.
Lucky you.

Hi Bella, it's beautiful! my philosophy of life in terms of old and antique things I said to have a story to tell, have survived long in that reality in itself makes objects with certain attributes, most of the objects have characteristics very difficult or impossible to imitate or achieve. So you own a unique piece, exclusive to continue telling a story about you to future generations. I know I have some things well, pairs and sometimes in colors I thought about changing the colors and I have ruined some parts, so that parts negligence simply can not be altered, and will always have a special space for them from where you will enjoy all its beauty. Bella Thanks for sharing your treasures with all so beautiful! Rose Marie blessings

Hi Bella! Gorgeous frame just as it is! It's rare to find that bubble glass intact.
I plowed right into the linky thing and had to go back in and mess with it a few times (That's how I do just about everything). I still don't know much about it but it's very user friendly. It looks like you got a couple of hits from it. I wanted a place to post pink on the weekend with no commitment. So easy just to link if and when you're ready. YOUR place would be perfect for it! Your blog pal, JQ
That is a beautiful frame and I love the curved glass. Hope you will show us what you put in it!!
Oh.....I really like the gold.....it's just beautiful. It's cute w/ the flowers in it too. What a great find!
Dearest Bella,
What a beauty! Please do read my blog that I just posted... Similar item, though not as pretty as yours and maybe some info for you. You are so right with stating: 'Because someone did this to it.'
The colors of those flowers are so artificial that it completely ruins the beautiful gilded gesso frame! Keep the frame as it is but find something else for inside...
Sunny greetings from Georgia,

Beautiful frame! I think I would leave the frame as it is. It is gorgeous. Can't wait to see what you put in it. Annette
Hello Bella!
How are you? I hope you're fine.
This frame is so beautiful!
I'm a bit more relaxed now...we've finished the picket fence.
I will post about it in the coming days so...stay tuned darling.
Kisses,
Fra
Oh, those flowers... I'm glad you saved it!
I've got a gold toned frame that I want to paint, but keep stopping myself!
