Read, write, sip - at home

Monday mornings have become escape mornings for me to

get out early and sip coffee with my books and my

thoughts.  Three day weekends tend to disrupt the  process.

My "Plan B" coffee shop is closed as well.

I think of my  long lost and still lamented House of Java

which has been gone for three years now but its poor cousin

replacement IS  opened for business today.  Alas, I'll stay

home.

I forgot that it wasn't Sunday. The Mennonite paver called this morning, which is a real wake-up call. They don't even lift the phone off the cradle on Sundays. :)
The only drawback to living in a teensy, weensy town is the lack of places to go for coffee. Yes, there is Starbucks, but I'm a little tired of the Schultz edicts and avoid his store pretty much. We used to go there every day, late morning, for a cup of coffee and a cookie. Well, that changed a couple of years ago. Now, once, maybe a week for me, and Friday mornings for Hal and that's it. There just is no one in this burg who will make a GOOD cup of coffee. I do not know why that is. They serve warmed-over Farmers Coffee, if they serve anything at all.
We had a bread maker and I broke it. We got a new one for $40 at WM and the bread and the freshly ground beans-turned into freshly brewed coffee plus fresh bread has us so spoiled rotten, we no longer have to hunt all over creation for goodies for the heart. :)
Do you have a place on the side of your house you can turn into your own A & D's Café?

Home is good...But I understand how disruption can make it a tough way to start the day! May the rest of the week be grand!

Dear B,

I know the feeling. Much as I want to boycott Starbucks 100%, I just can't. Schultz's edicts are almost god-like in their pronouncements and I'm so sick of him and them But on days like today, it's the only game in town, so I relent. Today I'm glad I did because I ran into an old acquaintance I had not seen for over a year, Lance, one of the police officers that used to hang out at the old H of J in the mornings. He's retired now and he and his wife, Mary, hit up the $bucks on Canal every morning. I think you met them both during your student days here.

My own cafe on the side of my house? Actually, yes, I do have space, but it would take some real converting expertise and so I'll leave it to future tenders of the homestead. LOL
