And a Public Holiday (long) weekend at that!! Hope you all have some lovely plans for both today and tomorrow! AND THE WEATHER TO GO WITH IT!
It's another lovely day here but we've no real plans - may go swimming later, or dunking in my case since I only swim in one direction - and that's DOWN!
I have a little light crafting to share with you today, still on the snippet eradication kick and no whole pieces of card were harmed in the making of this card. In fact, I even used a (large) snippet to make the card blank, since I had a pack of A6 envelopes.
My MEGA snippet card |
And my co-ordinating insert and envelope |
Materials used:
- A large snippet of 300gsm white card cut and folded to make my A6 card blank for which I already had a matching sized envelope
- Snippets of:- white card, Kraft card and black card
- Using iridescent pearl acrylic paint I smooshed it randomly over my white card snippet and set aside to dry.
- Once dry I coloured the rest of the white card using Distress Ink in crushed olive, using a large sponge dauber
- Using my fingers I splashed water randomly, allowed it to develop and then blotted and set aside to dry
- Once dry (again!) I stamped my Inkadinkado foliage image (from their gorgeous MEADOW set) and the Time Holtz sentiment using Versafine onyx black ink
- Matted on to black card and then positioned pretty much centrally on my kraft/black background layers
I'll be entering this card for the following challenges:-
- Pixie's Crafty Workshop - "Snippets challenge"
- Creative Knockouts - "Complete the inside" which I pretty much always do!
- Seize the Birthday - "Make your own background" - check!!!
Oops, found another snippet from my paint and shaving foam fiesta ...
My snippet card |
And its co-ordinating inside and envelope |
Materials used:
- 15cm square white, 250gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
- 13½cm square of white card
- 14cm square black card, for matting
- Snippets of white (shaving foam/paint panels) and black (matting) card
- Paints used: Glow orange and pink and metallic purple
- Dylusions border stamped using Memento lilac posies ink
- Inkadinkado wheat ear image stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
I've left the sentiment off as I feel it could be appropriate to many occasions from sympathy to congratulations
It's my cousin's birthday today so HAPPY BIRTHDAY Cuz!! Have a good one, Debra

Great makes Kathy - it is tipping it down here!!!
Happy Birthday, Debra - love the cards today Kathy, I will definitely have to have a go with the shaving foam. It's taken me forever to find some to buy here - it seems that rish men prefer the gel type for shaving.
Every time you bring out cards with new foliage stamps, I am so envious. I don't know how you track them down, but they really appeal to me.
Oh yes! These two are just GREAT. I particularly like the first one though . . . lovely background.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
Love your background on that first card.
oh gosh these are fab hun especially the first one stunning xxx oh happy belated birthday hun xxx
I love both card although the first (your snippets entry) has a slight edge for me. And I'm not usually a green girl :) It's gorgeous Kathy and I linked for you fine.
For some reason it seems that when you copied and pasted the URL, the whole thing hadn't been picked up. All sorted now though! Hope you're having that swim - we could have had a good swim here earlier - in the deep puddles of rain!!
Hugs

Glad you're having lovely weather Kathy . . . it's grey, wet and miserable down here in Plymouth! Funny you should be doing something with your, "snippets" as I have been thinking that my 'scraps' box needs 'weeding' and I usually try to use them on a card too! Great minds eh? I love the result that you made, who knew you could get "snippets" that big? ;) Hope the rest of your weekend is as good! Hazel xx
Great cards Kathy, you will not have any snippets let soon Hugs lilian
Wowser! Loving that first card in particular Kathy. That's not to say the second isn't great but I do love that gorgeous green background. It's sun, sun, sun here today. Bliss! How was the dunking? That made me laugh :oD

gorgeous backgrounds, and love the foliage stamps, both very elegant xxx
You always make the most amazing backgrounds Kathy. Especially LOVE the green and pearl paint background with the black silhouette stamp. Gorgeous. xx
This is gorgeous! Absolutely love the background. Thanks for playing along with Seize the Birthday.
What a wonderful technique that you have done so well! It makes the card so lovely! Thank you for sharing it with us at our Creative Knockouts "finish the inside" challenge! - DT Jen
Two fabulous snippet cards, Kathy. Learned a lot from reading your technique for the first one so thanks for the inspiration :) Love the way you decorate the envelopes - should discipline myself to do similar. Elizabeth xx
