Resurrection Day - Not Easter

On previous Easter Sundays I used to hear people say "Happy Resurrection Day" and I'd cringe.  It sounded so ridiculous but then I found out the origins of "Easter."  Did you know that Easter was actually a Pagan goddess named "Ishtar"???  This was the goddess of fertility and springtime.  Now I will say "Happy Resurrection Day."

I used the word "resurrection" to describe everything that Jesus has done for us:  

Redeem - to deliver or rescue from bondage of sin by paying a price.  That price was Jesus' blood shed on the cross.

Not only are we FREED from eternal damnation but this gift of eternal bliss is FREE.  It costs us nothing because Jesus paid it all for all of us.

"If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Romans 10:9

.....the Lord your God will never leave you or forsake you.
Deuteronomy 31:6

Grace is the gift that we do not deserve to receive but our Heavenly Father has given it to us anyway.

Mercy is the punishment that we do deserve but it has been erased through Jesus' sacrifice.

 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life"
John 3:16

No amount of gold or money could pay for what our Heavenly Father has provided for ALL of us through His Son Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the TRUTH & LIFE

Our sins have been washed away - we have been forgiven!!

The Friday That Changed Everything for EVERYONE

Many nonbelievers say "so what, Jesus died" but the most important thing is that he rose again and is risen FOREVER and EVER.  He endured such torture so that we can ALL have eternal life by believing in Jesus and accepting the Father's free gifts of grace and mercy.

"Good Friday" is the day that changed everything for everyone. (Read Scripture below as a reminder of what happened on Good Friday)

It is because of Jesus' sacrifice that Christians are filled with the Holy Spirit and are thereby filled with God's power.
