- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2015This laugh-out-loud funny romantic adventure engages with a smart main character whose opinions on settings, characters, her own foibles, and others’ shortcomings are always offered with wit or sarcasm. She has a heart, too, for her grandmother, and for the suspiciously sensitive and warm hero, if only they weren’t so far apart on major issues; in a nutshell, “far left liberal meets wealthy scion being sensitive to her politics.”
The subplot provides interest regarding her mom's rekindled high school romance and a land grab complication.
In terms of craft, the writing is assured and the novella well structured. For example, the author always resets the stage with sensory details and even weather, so the reader is never without an anchor in a new scene.
All in all, Stuck With You is an effortless, delightful read.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2018Stuck With You is my first book by Kristy Tate. Ms. Tate has delivered a book that is well-written. It is written in first person, alternating point of view, not my favorite format. Andie is a photographer and wants to travel so she can show the world the downtrodden masses. Whit travels the world writing articles for sports magazines. Their story is full of drama, sparks and a bit of humor. I didn't care much for the ending, it was almost cliff-hangerish.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2017The dynamic opening sucked me in, with movie-like mental images immediately. Witty banter in the opening scenes made me think we had two main characters worth some real connection and chemistry. I remember having the impression that this is one of the few elevator scenes I've read that I could really relate to. She was busy doing everything she could to get out, having concerns I'd be thinking, myself.
The supporting cast had rich personalities that added fun and color to the story. I just didn't get the feeling that there was enough growth of the primary relationship, or enough interaction to really explain some of the thoughts the primary characters were thinking when they were separated.
I liked that they were taking it slow, and almost felt satisfied at the projected hope in the relationship continuing to grow. The full and purposes of some of the characters just didn't seemed developed like his mother, and the mischievous would-be interfering female who would throw in wrenches wherever she could.
The first half was great. I just wish that some of the greatest strengths in the opening chapters had continued their energy and sparkle through the book in its entirety.
All of this said, it was a nice quick read, and the story was enjoyable. I don't regret the purchase.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2021I enjoyed the novel, particularly the cute and comical exchanges between the two main characters. But the story felt rushed. There was little character development even though there were so many places in the writing where detail could've been added. It was a sweet romance but sorely underdeveloped.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2017This was a short story about a very independent young woman who was stuck in an elevator with a handsome man. Doesn't sound like a problem, right? Well she fought off panic and worried about an awful lot! She rips the glasses off the man's face and breaks off the arm to use it to pry up the stuck alarm button on the elevator panel. This seems indicative of her somewhat rash and perhaps unbalanced thinking! However the man in the elevator, who is home for 3 days for his twin's wedding, is intrigued and decides to seek her out when she leaves behind her camera in the elevator. His reason may be just to avoid a pushy gal who is continually throwing herself at him!
An awful lot happens in the span of just a few days, and much of what is seen on the surface of her life and her family's life isn't what it seems. The ending was an abrupt decision on her part, and really more of a beginning.
Sweet story with a lot of emotion from the characters. It was over way too fast! I thoroughly enjoy Kristy's writing style and the way she makes characters seem totally real. I recommend this to romance readers and anyone who likes a story about a woman who knows what she wants!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2021Loved the book. Story felt a bit rushed though. Read it in under 2 hours. Would have loved for it to be a bit longer, but filled in the gaps with my imagination. Great characters. Kinda wished that there was a sequel. Would definitely read again.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2019It fell flat the way it ended. Really like this Author Series - Witch Wishes, but this Novella started out good, but relationship between the two main characters was non-existent even though they were playing a role. They are really acquistances with no other depth, who have mutual family members that got married.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2020So I've had the song "Stuck with You" by Huey Lewis & the News in my head since I came across this, lol
This was a fun & well done novella! Despite its brevity, the plot & characters were still solidly depicted & developed. The relationship between Whit & Andie wasn't really as well supported as it needed to be, but at the same time, it was handled so adroitly that it was extremely easy to overlook it.
Some found the ending abrupt, but I usually dislike abrupt endings & I honestly saw this one as warmly promising, if not outright predictive, for their happily-ever-after, and it fit harmoniously & satisfyingly with the whole.
To put it more simply - I thoroughly enjoyed it!
*Clean romance level: sweet kisses, nothing graphic

4.0 out of 5 stars Stuck with you
A short story about a woman who photographs homes for sale listings and a well off family circle she gets involved with after being stuck in a lift with a man. Not a lot actually happens, with many descriptions of food and events. However there is a more serious thread running through the background and this is the conflict of the tale.
A nice enough romance set in Orange County, suitable for teen readers to adults. This would give you a feeling for the author's work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good despite being short
A short review for a short book-I didn't know strong, rounded characters could be built in less than 100 pages. Good and convincing so it didn't feel short.
