Here, There, All 'Round Town...

I haven't had much time lately to get any real super images of different fences, so this'll have to be it for this week. It's found behind the main library in the downtown area...

...a few weeks past to get up close and personal to the Brown Booby Bird, I took this photo from the boat looking toward the high rise buildings and the painted sky along the seawall; reflecting off the mirror-like bay water.

These are different squirrels, on different days while we're out birding. I loved watching the comical antics of the one in particular in the mulberry tree. Notice his stuffed cheeks in the larger image. And then, the notched ear in the very last image in the series of photos.

  1. What a beautiful shot of the city from the bay, and I love the cheeky squirrels. Makes you wonder how the last got the notch in his ear; fighting with a blue jay for nuts perhaps?

    1. ,,,maybe a mama mocking bird since we don't have blue jays this far south.

  10. Isn't it fun to watch the squirrels. One would think we would have many around our property with all the oak trees but the first 4 or 5 years out here, we never saw any. It is just in the past few years we see 1 or 2. Anyway, love you photos of those little furry aerial acrobats.

  11. I don't see the squirrels around my place much any more since I stopped feeding the birds on my front porch. They were always there before. I love seeing yours, Anni. :-)

  12. I always love to watch squirrels...we had one that came here and called her Mama Squirrel...I got her till she would eat from my hand, she always came to the back door looking for a handout...she lived in our big maple for at least four or five years, raised two sets of babies every year. Talk about adorable...we at one time had two dogs. She knew which was dangerous.

Then Sarah took that dog home with her, and left our other dog...Mama Squrrel would go up to her and smell her...knowing she would not be hurt.

  14. That's a good shot of the fence and gate....
We had so much trouble with squirrels eating our electrical cords and etc. when we lived at the olden house...lots of pecan trees in the neighborhood brought out waaay too many of the little pesky critters. :)

  24. We have a yard full of squirrels. They are puny, compared to the squirrels I grew up seeing in Ohio, but still fun to watch as they run from tree-to-tree. When I throw nuts out for them, they are gone in an instant (it seems). They build sturdy nests in our trees and chatter at each other (and us). Great photos!

  59. In answer to your questions regarding Will boxes. Yes, every county in the entire U.S. should have these available. They are public record. Check with the Circuit Clerk or County Clerk in the county you want to research. There is a fee in our county if you don't do it yourself and I would assume the same for other counties and states. I work at the courthouse, so see people coming in all the time doing genealogy research. Divorces, probate cases and wills are popular. We have them back until our courthouse burned in or around the 1860-1880's. I can never remember when.
