DIY Father’s Day Mod Podge Photo Frame
There’s no need to spend a fortune to have the perfect Father’s Day gift. Here you will learn how to make a pretty Father’s Day Mod Podge Photo Frame with just a few inexpensive items and little creativity.
I made this cute Mod Podge Photo Frame as a special reminder because my girl and I are spending some time with our family far away from Daddy and many other family members {we don’t leave in the same country}.

Father’s Day Mod Podge Photo Frame
I can’t help thinking that Emma could forget her family, I mean their faces and their names. When my mom and Dad left Venezuela as expatriates the first time to Russia my little Brother was only 2 years old. My mom got the idea of buying many photo frames and display pictures of each member of the family and closest friends so he wouldn’t forget them, and it worked. When he saw those people in person he knew who they were.
So, of course I wanted to do it too. The thing was that I didn’t want any frames I wanted my own frames LOL. So, I bought a few different photo frames and what I want to do is making each one unique for each member of the family. Of course, I started with my daddy’s one.
I used mod podge and a cut scrapbook page I found at Walmart. The result was so cute. I love it! I placed it where she could easily see it and she actually goes there almost everyday and say: “that Daddy… and that Emma!!!” Sometimes she even kisses him LOL. I’m glad that this is working and I’m planning on making many different ones that I’ll be showing very soon!
What is Mod Podge?
Mod Podge is like glue but has become one of the most used and famous craft supplies in existence (you might have seen it, it has a retro label). But if you haven’t heard of about it, Mod Podge, is a decoupage medium. An awesome all-in-one glue, sealer, and finish used to attach paper and fabric to various surfaces. In simple English, one of the best glues ever.
What is Mod Podge good for?
As I mentioned above, Mod Podge is an all-in-one medium. And it also has so many variations:
- It can be used as a sealer to protect painted surfaces.
- You can paint your base item all one color, and Mod Podge cut paper or lace onto it.
- You can also paint designs onto it, and use Mod Podge as a finish.
Among other ideas…
Is Mod Podge waterproof?
I need to clarify something here. Mod Podge is not Waterproof but it can be HIGHLY water resistant which is different (way more so than regular Podges). What this means is that if you want a decoupaged item to sit on a covered porch where it is not completely exposed to the weather the whole day every day, you can definitely use this product by itself. You can learn a ton about Mod Podge and all its uses with Amy over at Mod Podge Rocks. She’s awesome with this product and she has awesome projects.
How to make Father’s Day Mod Podge Photo Frame:
Supplies needed:
- Mod podge mate finish
- white paint
- Scrapbook paper or your favorite paper.
- Stickers or your favorite embellishments
- Ribbon
- Brush
- Mod podge scrapper and roller.
- Cutter
I made sure the photo frame was clean and painted the edges on the outside and in the heart.
Then I mod podged it. Here is where we should be very careful because of the whole. I got that crease close to the top owl and I couldn’t do anything about it unless I started over. But I didn’t care much; I really liked it already.
I left it for a while to dry, cut the heart shape out of it and then I decorated it. I add a cute ribbon bow and some shaped letters to write Emma and Daddy on it.
The final touch was a cute owl sticker right on top of “daddy” word LOL. I really love how it turned out despite the ugly crease.
This photo frame didn’t have glass so I added some contact paper to the photo so it would be protected and some extra cardstock on the back.
That’s it! There you have it! Easy peasy! =D
What do you think??? Do you like Photo Frames? I’m getting addicted!!!
