Close to The Edge of the World (see my blog post 27.9),
a Tower is growing.
It’s rising above my own horizon now; as I feared it would. This photo was taken through my window the other day. If I sit at the kitchen table, it’s out of view and I can pretend it’s not there. But the illusion goes away as soon as I take one or two steps to the right… :)
Luckily, I think they have almost reached the top now.
For while at least, it will be the highest building in town.
Can’t help it, I’ve come to (jokingly) think of it as the Tower of Babel…
“Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves ” (Genesis 11:4)
This is what it’s supposed to look like when it’s finished.
(Obviously not my own photo!)
Linking to Weekend Reflections
I’m afraid I still cannot see or enter any links at either Skywatch Friday or Friday My Town Shoot Out. (It was the same thing last week.) If anyone has a plausible explanation, please share it. (I suspect something to do with Google+. Which I’m not using.)
the first shot the tower of Babel appears to be leaning a tad, it i nice as skyscrapers go, but i am not a fan of them. sorry is is in your view.
ReplyDeleteour neigbors house we see out our front window has always just blended in the background of sky and trees, she just painted the trim flag blue and each time i look out i am jolted by that color that is ugly to me on a house. i am sure she likes it, but she doesn't see it and i do. but like your tower, it is there.
I just clicked on both links and they are not using Google Plus, i went right to and i am not Google plus
Thanks Sandra. It was probably the photographer (yours truly) who was leaning... :) I've used a correction tool on the photo and inserted a new version now. Better?
DeleteI'm no help whatsoever when it comes to your problem, if I had to guess I'd say it's something to do with your browser but what I have no idea. I suggest you contact GB and ask for his help, he's very techno savvy.
ReplyDeleteI'd be really annoyed with that building if I were you although all the annoyance in the world won't make it disappear. It nice as buildings go but I wouldn't want to look at it all the same. It's perfectly positioned for a good reflection!
It's not my browser, Pauline, as it's the same whichever browser I try (and I've tried four different ones). Just now I'm leaning towards something to do with my broadband but for the moment I've given up. I'll get back to it some other day.
DeleteMonica, I don't use Google+. I had endless trouble a few months ago. This doesn't always work but it usually does.
ReplyDeleteCopy the sites URL. then go to Blogger Dashboard stop following the site. Go to Blogger dashboard again and Click ADD then paste the URL in. Good luck.
Makes no difference, Adrian, but thanks anyway :)
DeleteNeat reflection ! A perfect mirror, well done...
ReplyDeletewonderful reflection of a skyscraper... well done
ReplyDeleteGreat reflection on the first one. The finished look is very futuristic.

I came too late to link you to our FSO site. sorry. but have come to see your post and even if the building is intrusive to your view and your life.... the first is a wonderful photo. the colors of the season, the reflection, and the framing of the building with the first two make a VERY nice composition. I like....
ReplyDeleteThanks Ginger. This post was not really in line with the FSO theme for last week anyway - too close to home to be stretched to a "visitor's" perspective! :)
DeleteJust discovered that I can see InLinkz again. Can't take any credit for it I'm afraid. As far as I know I did nothing to make them disappear, and nothing to make them come back... LOL
