I follow lots of crafty blogs, but there is one in particular that I love called
Make It and Love It that gives some of the coolest ideas and tutorials out there! On Sunday, I finally mustered up the courage to try the clock that
Ashley made for her craft room (which, by the way - I LOVE and will be stealing lots of ideas from for mine)! Off to Jo-Ann's I headed to find fabric (and lots of other goodies) to get started! The clock was my main focus on Sunday and I finished, but I did start several other projects (that included spray painting) that afternoon and had every intention of crafting yesterday to finish those, but I got really sick, so in bed I stayed. Yuck. Today, however, I am feeling a little better, so maybe I will finish a few more!
Anywho - back to the clock! Here is my version of
Ashley's from
Make It and Love It (if you click on her name, you can see hers and her tutorial)!

And to think that the clock started out so plain and boring! Here is a how-to if you want to try one for yourself too!

1. Start off with a plain clock (I found mine at Ikea, LOVE that place! I think it was $6!?)
2. Pop the plastic middle out, you are going to use it in just a second.
3. Trace that middle plastic piece around the fabric of your choice. Cut it out when you are finished.
4. Mod Podge, your best friend for this project! I forgot how much I loved this stuff!
5. Mod Podge the top of the clock and then place your fabric on top, using your fingers to smooth out any bubbles that you might have. Start at the middle of the clock and work your way to the outside and edges. I recommend not doing the sides until your top is almost dry. When it is, do the same thing for the sides.
6. When the Mod Podge is dry, you are going to put another coat right on top of your fabric! Make sure that you are using a good amount and putting it on evenly.
7. To get the sides, I propped up the clock with the plastic center piece that I popped out in step 2! Made it easy to rotate and I knew it wouldn't stick to my table.
8. (not shown) When the clock is dry, pop that plastic piece back in!
Now, it looks good just like that, but I wanted to add those little flowers too!

These were easy and hard to do at the same time! Maybe they were just more time consuming. I started off trying to make them all perfect and not having any of the frayed edges come out, bad idea. They not only looked bad, but they didn't have any personality to me, so after several tries, I figured out that the messier they looked the better! I started off with about a 15"x2" strip of orange satin (think that was the biggest size flower that I made) and then kind of eye balled the other ones from there, as they are all different sizes. Hot glued at one end and just kept rolling the fabric over and over each other to make a circle shape, hot gluing when needed to keep it together! Then, I hot glued them in the pattern that
Ashley did and
Make It and Love It, because I am a copy cat and LOVED everything about how she did her clock!

Can't wait to hang it up in my craft room, but I have a few more things to do in there before anything goes up on my walls or before you get to see pictures of the space that I get to create in! Just thought I would show you a little peek for now...

Oh wow, I really do love how that turned out. And even more, because I just got some of that fabric, think I would make a summery skirt or something out of it. LOVE it as your clock print!!! Also, the photo in the header and then the ones down the side are stunning. Love your style!
Thanks for the link!
Ashley

i may b making one soon! cuz i looooooove it!!!! very cute jenni!!
That is the cutest thing ever. What a fun craft! I think I'm going to have to do that with my daughter this summer! Thanks for sharing.
Hey, if I ever get out to AZ we need to hook up!!! I'm having so much fun meeting all my blogging friends!
crystal b. - would LOVE to meet you! don't you just love this bloggy blog world!
You crafty lady, YOU!! I love it! GOod job. I can't wait to see the craft room too. Can I get a sneak peek before the rest of the bloggy world?!
Love it! You did a great job. Thank you for sharing this. I think I may attempt to make one for my craft area at home and maybe my office at work :)
Sorry you were sick yesterday :(
I'm back :)...I just checked out Ashley's blog and "oh my word" there are SO many great ideas on there. I love all the tutorials she has posted. Now I am really inspired to get crafting and sewing :) Thanks Jenni for sharing her blog with us.
Susie - Since you are over at my house probs more than anyone, I would say chances are good that you will be seeing the room before anyone else! Although, some have seen it on "fight night", but just the furniture! So don't worry, think you will see it near completion before anyone else!
Alisha - I want to make that clock for my classroom too! I have to go back to IKEA to return a file cabinet that was broken in the box (hate it when that happens) and I think I am going to pick up a few extras! I LOVE the end result! And it was pretty easy!
Isn't Ashley's blog awesome! Right now you can comment on her blog to win a really cool machine (I don't even know what it is called, just know that it does about everything a crafter needs/wants)! Don't forget to enter!
How is your blog coming along?! :)
Very cool Jenni!! I'm going to have ta check out that blog!:) I like getting ideas on how to make new things. I can be very creative but sometimes I just need to see how someones does it and then it's all over after that! I'm all over it!
Yeah, those rosettes or harder to make than you think. I've tried so many different ways! It seems easy enough but it somehow gets complicated along the way. I sew all of mine because I know some people get weird about "glue", I have NO problem with using it! Especially if it helps it stay together better:)
Oh yes, I saw that giveaway and I entered it even though you will win it because of your amazing luck ;)
The blog...hmmm...I have been thinking about it a lot. I need to think of a name for it and then I need to figure out what I would blog about {hehe}. I am not much of a writer.
Alisha - I do have crazy winning luck! My fingers are crossed for you or I!
Since Amy probably knows you the best, I would have her help you out with the name! You can fill us in on all of the little projects/things you have been working on now that you are newly motivated!?
Do you have family that wants to see pictures of you and all that you have been up to? That was my big motivator?! Since then it has turned into such a wonderful avenue for getting to know new friends!
Josh's family is almost 5 hours away from us and my family lives in Michigan. So that is definitely a motivator to begin one :) .
I LOVE this Jenni!! I am heading over to Ashley's blog right now to check it all out. Very cool!
And yes, Alisha NEEDS to start a blog. I've been on her about it. She writes just fine {ahem alisha!! :)}...I will work on her as well. :)
Jenni...you're awesome. Just wanted you to know that. I love your blog, it always makes me smile. xoxo
LOVE those orange flowers---thinking Yenni needs to make something cute like that for our orange bathroom (with those flowers??) haaa
You know I won't try this myself!
Candis - I will add that to the list of things I need to make for you :)
Oh my goodness!! Jenni, this is so beautiful!! I follow this blog too and love her crafting ideas and posts. Love the rolled flowers on here too.
YAY!! Amy is back!! So excited to see her name on blog comments again. And Alisha, you so need the blog! We want to follow it. I would love to see Mr. Jude!! He & Lane are the same age and they sound a lot alike too.
Jenni, cannot wait to see your crafting room. I bet it is gorgeous!!
xoxo

That is a REALLY cute idea! It caught my eye on the link party at Tatertots and Jello. It turned out so pretty compared to the dull plain white clock it started out as. I hope that you sent this over to Amy at Modpodgerocks. She loves seeing this kind of stuff.
Oh my GOSH -- this is SO adorable! I MUST make a clock like this! Wonderful tutorial!
Your children are more beautiful! wink wink.... but I adore this clock and what you did with it. I featured it on my craft blog~ craftomaniac.blogspot.com hope that is OK. Jenn
