With May right around the corner some of you may soon be looking for teacher appreciation gift ideas and I’m excited to help y’all out. I’m even more fired up about sharing my first printable as one of the new contributors here on the Uncommon Design’s blog!
I love the idea of gifting teachers something they can make good use of and what teacher couldn’t use a day-to-day school bag to help them lug around all those handouts and graded papers?
So with that being said, I thought it would be cute to use a play on words and create a printable tag that you could use to attach to a tote bag. Plus, I’m all about the puns!
Print and download tags on white cardstock.
Then just simply cut the tags out, hole punch the corner, add some ribbon and tie to your tote.
If you wanted to you could even fill the bag with goodies such as magazines and treats.
I monogrammed this polka-dot burlap bag I found at Hobby Lobby using the freezer paper stenciling technique but I know how busy you mamas are so any tote will do.
Don’t worry we won’t judge.
{ psst….if you can not find this tote anymore, this plain Jute Tote will work too! Simply add some polka dots as well! }
Thanks for letting me share my teacher appreciation printable!
Enjoy.

These are too cute! And a tote bag as a gift is a fabulous idea, love it! In case you didn’t see it earlier, I featured this today on my blog, so stop by and grab a Featured button if you don’t already have one! http://practicallyfunctional.net/2013/04/6-creative-ideas/
SOOOOO incredibly adorable!!! I’ll definitely be doing this for two sweet teachers. I know freezer paper stencils are super easy, though I’ve never done it. Did you just cut holes into one large piece of freezer paper? And did you iron it down into the burlap? I imagine that the texture would make it challenging. This is just so cute. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Melissa! You do iron the freezer paper down onto the burlap. Just go slow and you shouldn’t have any difficulty!
Thanks! I hope to go to Hobby Lobby later this week to get the totes and the paint.
As a teacher I approve!
Thanks for sharing! I saw these totes last month and I had them in my cart but wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them?!? So I put them back! Then your idea was in my pinterest stream one day – So i went back and bought them! I just gave my totes as a teacher gift and I linked the bag credit back to you!

How did you stencil the polka dots and letter on the bag?
Sejal,
The bag was purchased with the polka dots already on it. We simply cut a letter out to use as a stencil and painted it on the bag with fabric paint. Enjoy!
