Rae's Springy Ruffle Top

Remember back in March of '07 how I made that "tent" top for myself? Well, I made another one... I can't remember where I got the pattern from back then, but recently a blogger called Rae posted it on the Sew Mama Sew blog and I thought I would give it another go...

I still want to add pockets, and try and reduce some of that ridiculous gatherage (yes it's a word... ;) up front. The problem with the mathematics provided to work the measurements out is that when you're my size you end up with a LOT of fabric to pleat up front, which then makes it look like... well... a tent!

Anyway, the whole project cost me $2 and it's a very cool shirt to wear with or without the under shirt. I won't be winning any fashion awards, but I have a cool, cheap shirt and in Texas (where temps are hitting triple digits this week) cool shirts are muy importante!

P.S.  Please do enjoy the bare concrete floors in my living room.  LOL

P.P.S.  I stink at pleats....

Thanks so much for visiting my blog! I like your shirt, too. I completely understand the too many pleats sentiment, too. If you can sew, then you can quilt, too. Believe me, that little garbage bag dispenser is only the second thing I have ever quilted in my life. I just read a bunch of blogs, watched/read some tutorials and then jumped on it.

I've made that same blouse and you're right,a lot of fabric up front! Mine looks like a tent too! Pleating it looks so much better though. Thanks for visiting my blog. That coloring and stitching method is cool, eh?!
