1. Lake Superior University has once again published a list of words/phrases they think should be banished from the Queen's English...here's the list for 2013-
fiscal cliff, kick the can down the road, double down, job creators/creation, passion/passionate, yolo (an acronym for you only live once), spoiler alert, bucket list, trending, superfood, boneless wings, and guru
Which of these words/phrases would you most like to see banished from everyday speech and why. Go here to read more about how the words were chosen.
Interesting thought here. For me personally I would have to go with "trending", for some reason hearing this statement is similar to nails across the chalkboard. My mind instantly visualizing a mad panic of people rushing to jump on board a train bound for somewhere marvelous when in reality the only prize is a can of spam. Then again it could be the fact I don't flow with the majority or the five second fads.
2. When was the last time you rode a train? Where did you go?
I've never ridden a train. Which this is very odd seeing as in my early childhood my daddy work on the railroad for years. I've been around trains, in train yards, inside a train but never ridden on one. Now if you want to include the mini train / trams at Busch Gardens, then it was a year ago when the inlaws to us and the niece to Christmas Town.
3. Bagels-yay or nay? Favorite 'flavor'? Favorite topping?
Ahhhh I miss bagels. I can no longer chew them. The coffee house hubby and I frequented before and at the beginning of our marriage served a varitey of bagels. One was even named after me I ordered it specially so much: A plain bagel toasted then topped with mozzarella pickles and topped with provolone then melted served with a side of ranch. I was called one of two names: The Sam's Silly Pickle Bagel and The Are-You-Pregnant Bagel. For when ever eating it the question was always asked.
4. 'Tis the season of awards shows...if you could star in a movie already made which one would you choose?
Ever After, I already say the lines with the movie.
5. The move towards single gender classrooms has been making the news in recent months....what say you? Do you think kids perform better if seperated by gender and are taught differently or is that discrimination? If you're a parent, is this something you'd support in regard to your own children?
Though I am not a parent, I can see both sides of this. The elimination of distractions could be beneficial but other issues may arise. I don't know if they would be taught differently per say, but I believe each child has their methods of learning regardless of gender or any other factor. I am a supporter or fan you could say of Homeschooling. It still amazes me how much my niece soaked in and hungered to learn while I homes chooled her preparing her for Kindergarten. Thankfully the love of learning has stuck with her.

6. What's your favorite thing about staying in a hotel?
Loved it as a kid, as an adult I prefer home or family's home even if the floor. Hotels can be so cold and uninviting.
7. Do you have a 'word' for 2013? What's the story behind your choice?
Transformation. 2011 was the year of liberation for me, many truths finally confirmed and out in the open. 2012 was inner healing absorbing and letting go all that came from 2011. So I have decided 2013 is the year of Transformation in the outer sense working on health and appearance, as well as expressing myself rather than holding within.
8. Randomness:
Sickness has finally snagged me and it's time couldn't be worst. It's not the flu but a cold with sore throat and/or sinus related, burning nose and congestion. You know that sensation where it feels like there is a little ball of fire located behind your nose? Makes your eyes water while you throat feels as if you are swallowing hot sharp rocks that suck the moisture out of your throat. Yep no fun two days now added to that are cramps from hell. Hubby and I have come to the conclusion I am the worst invalid there is. Normally I am not a complainer or whiner but when unwell I constantly complain, though this bout is hard to for speaking is so raspy and annoying.
Thankfully the rainy week has made me feel less guilty being hunkered down on the couch with a book: The Fool's Tale By Nicole Galland . An enjoyable little read. Nothing to really write home about but entertaining none the less. It's nice to get lost in a book forgetting as best one can they are aching. I am already over half way through my box of box hubby let me get as a Christmas gift. Next up are some Jane Austin inspired books. I have a series of four more by Elizabeth Aston, I rather enjoyed her sequel to Pride & Prejudice called , Mister Darcy's daughters.
At this rate I will need to replenish my unread book supply by Valentines! Just my luck they opened a new thrift store around the corner. Anyone have suggestions on titles or authors to keep an eye out for? I have been trying to expand my reading world over the past year so any inputs or suggestions are nice to have. Well back to the couch I go. Hope all are well. Will make the rounds in a bit after moving lap top to couch and finishing book.

Funny answer to #1. I hope your feel better soon!
So sorry you're not feeling well. That seems to be a common theme these days. Feel better real soon!
Hope you are feeling better soon.
I agree about homeschooling :)
I had a cold at the beginning of January and it reappeared today with a vengeance. I've had so much tea and water today I'm swimming! Hope you feel better soon. Mine isn't the flu either, but it's pretty miserable.
I finished a pretty long (and not so good) book when I was in the hospital earlier this month. Reading does help you forget you feel bad. I usually like thrillers and my 2 favorite authors write about Washington DC characters. Alan Jacobson writes a lot of FBI good guys and Austin Camacho does the Hannibal Jones series. Hannibal is a private detective in DC. Both are great authors if you like crime mysteries
Sorry you are sick. That's the pits. I'm a whiner when ill, as well and I often get sick of hearing myself complain. :) I had the nasty cold near the beginning of Dec and couldn't make a fuss either. That was the worst. :) Hope you're well soon.
I will have to check out Mister Darcy's Daughters. I love all things Pride & Prejudice. My fave book is Random Harvest by James Hilton. It has romance & mystery. Very twisty. Might have to suspend reality a bit, but there is a 1940's-something movie by the same name that is delightful, but reading the book first is best!
