Wednesday Hodgepodge

On this week of Thanksgiving I'm feeling blessed and grateful for all that I have, for family, every one's good health and the promise of new life adding to the family this coming summer. Yep. Life is good.

Also thankful for blogging buddies like Joyce who comes through every week with the . . .

1. Turkey-love it or leave it? White meat or dark? What's your favorite thing to make using leftover turkey?
I like it just fine. I'm a dark meat gal. I guess my favorite way to eat it leftover would be in a sandwich. Just a cold dark meat turkey sandwich. Hold the cranberry. Not a cranberry fan.

2. Gotta burn off all those carbs the day after a holiday feast so which would you rather do-run a 10K or climb a mountain?
Are these my only choices? Neither strike me as fun. If if must choose, I'm going with climb a mountain. A short mountain.

3. Do you feel like social networking has made your relationships better or worse? Explain.
Neither. I don't really use it in such a way to . . . well, I don't really use it much at all. Ha.
I don't get how social networking could make relationships better. I guess if it means you're interacting with someone you wouldn't otherwise even speak to then I suppose that would be, in a sense, better because technically it would be something rather than nothing.

4. How do you find and express gratitude for the hard things in your life?
Let me state for the record that I have not had many hard things in my life. That said I think the times that have been challenging or hard, such as deaths in the family are times I go within and talk with God to find peace with it and then hopefully gratitude follows in the form of being more aware of time and family and blessings that are still tangible. Does that make sense?

5. In the US, the day after Thanksgiving has been dubbed 'Black Friday'. Is most of your holiday shopping done live and in person, or is it done more through the magic of the Internet? How do you feel about stores opening at midnight Thanksgiving night? Will you be out amongst the masses on Friday?
Most, if not all, of my shopping is done live and in person. I'm a shopper. {ahem} Some might say this is an understatement. Ha.
I'm not sure about how I feel about stores opening at midnight. I wonder why they can't just close for a measly full 24 hours. That said, I guess if they ASK and then pay the employees that WANT to work double time then ~ be that as it may.
I have never, nor do I ever, plan on doing the Black Friday thing. I don't even go to the mall on a regular Saturday if I can avoid it.

6. Speaking of the color black-which black item in your wardrobe would you say is your favorite?
Ooohhh, how can one choose just one? Ha. If we're talking about which one is most worn then I'd have to say the ever present, always appropriate, usually handy and totally workable black turtleneck.
Now if we're talking about just a favorite black something, then I'd have to go with the black dress I got special for my {cough 50th cough} birthday luncheon. I feel like I'd like to frame it, I like it so much and don't wear it often enough. In fact, I think I'll wear it this season some time just because I can.

7. What do you appreciate about your life today?
Oh so much. My Hubby. Whom I love more every day and supports me/us to the nth degree and who loves me unconditionally. My kids, who are upstanding individuals making their way in life and hardly never give me reason to shake my head wonder. :) My extended family especially sister Debbie (she's my sister, not a nun) who makes my days seem not so empty and nephew Nick, who just this moment, I've realized has taken on the roll of surrogate son of mine as mine are out of the country/state not handy. My girlfriends who as we age are realizing we need to gather more often because well, you just never know...
I appreciate the position we are in due to the Hubby's hard work and looking forward to the next step in this crazy thing called life.
Well that went all deep didn't it?
Today specifically I appreciate the fact that I got outta the house!

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Miss Katherine-A is in the house! Well, she went in to the office with the Hubby to 'work from home' but still . . . she's in the state at least.
Son #1 and Holly will arrive later tonight.
X will not be home. But you knew that already

It might just be another occasion for 'Flat Alex' to make an appearance . . .

I'm just sayin'
