WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

1. Turkey-love it or leave it? White meat or dark?  What's your favourite thing to make using leftover turkey?

Love it! White meat! Turkey soup!

2. Gotta burn off all those carbs the day after a holiday feast so which would you rather do-run a 10K or climb a mountain?

Climb a mountain. I am a walker not a runner.

3. Do you feel like social networking has made your relationships better or worse? Explain!

I love the fact that blogging has introduced me to so many people as well as keeping in touch with my family.

4. How do you find and express gratitude for the hard things in your life?

I am thankful that I don’t have to go to work.  I just say “Thanks”

5. In the US the day after Thanksgiving has been dubbed 'Black Friday'.  Is most of your holiday shopping done live and in person or is done more through the magic of the Internet? How do you feel about stores opening at midnight on Thanksgiving?  Will you be out amongst the masses on Friday?

I don’t shop Black Friday and this year most of my Christmas gifts will be homemade.

6. Speaking of the color black-which black item in your wardrobe would you say is your favourite?

I Love my black pants. I can dress them up with a sweater or a sexy top.

7. What do you appreciate about your life today?

I very much appreciate that I am retired. I went back to visit the girls at work yesterday and even they can hardly wait to retire. They will even have to work Christmas Day.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

To all of my American blogger friends – I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes! Working on Christmas would STINK IT UP. Retiring: what a dream! Hopefully I'm on the downhill slide!

Working on Christmas-ugh! Thankful for my teaching job!
I know there are certain jobs that need someone there 24/7...it would be hard to work on Christmas Day, but I guess if you're in one of those professions that comes with the territory. I think we've gone a little overboard with the shopping on holidays though...soon I guess Black Friday will happen before Thanksgiving : )

We are trying to make as many of our gifts this year as we can - but will not be shopping on Black Friday - no way! I am not a runner either - I grew up swimming. I would much rather swim 10K than run 10K! :)

I am planning to work tomorrow. Perfectly quiet and I can get a lot done.

Homemade gifts are the best! There's nothing like giving a little bit of yourself with each gift.

Working on Christmas, bah humbug!
Happy Thanksgiving too! Where are you cruising?? I noticed your countdown :) My family and i went to Alaska about 4 years ago, it was quite fun!

We actually have 3 cruises planned for next year - Caribbean in February, Norway and Scotland in August and a 42 day transatlantic to Rome and back in October. We did 2 cruises this year - one to the Caribbean in February and a 35 day cruise out of Boston called the Voyage of the Vikings - which my hubby has blogged about. We love to cruise - thanks for asking.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! And yes, it is wonderful to be retired. I like to make turkey pie and put it in the freezer for another day. I always eat the turkey neck first!

My mother was famous for her turkey pie. Thanks for the memory!
i agree with you on #3 and #6 and I can't wait to retire. I have the years, just need to get a little better financial set. Maybe pay off the house.

That's great that you're going to make all your gifts this year! My gifts are few and my gift to my family is me flying home for Christmas. :) And I too have enjoyed meeting all these wonderful people through blogging. :)

Loved the Twinkie history lesson:)

Thank you for the Thanksgiving wish. I have two sets of ornaments that I need to make and I have procrastinated far too long. I have maybe two weeks to finish them before I need to give them to my friends. I hope you have a great day!
