1. What creeps you out? Some of the "psycho" movies creep me out - you know, the ones that could really happen. Goblins, mummies, vamps, werewolves, zombies - I'm ok - but crazy people - they're really out there.
2. What's your least favorite candy? Mexican chocolate - they're horrid!
3. Are you a fan of scary movies? What's the scariest movie you've ever seen? See #1.

4. What part of life confuses you the most? How time passes by so fast. Really, I just don't feel like I should be as old as I am.
5. Pumpkin, sunflower, sesame, poppy...what's your favorite seed? Sunflower are my faves but I like them all.
6. Imagine your life ten years from today...what's changed? I have no idea - one thing I have learned is that things can change in a heartbeat.
7. What do you a) love the most and b) like the least about the Hodgepodge? a) I love reading everyone's answers and learning more about them. I don't always get to read every post and I have to admit that I sometimes find myself reading my favorites first but I always try to read quite a few. b) The thing I like the least would probably be the random thought - I seem to have trouble coming up with something "blog worthy."
8. Insert your own random thought here My mother was a fanatical who thought everything was a sin - music, dancing, any religion except her own, talking on the phone, sports, pep rallies at school, the way I dressed, basically everything I did. For example she once threw a fit because I dressed my 5 year old daughter in a sundress for church. She said I was dressing her like a tramp and that everyone would look down on HER because of it. The dress was the "midi" type that came below her knees and it was adorable! Two weeks later she decided the dress was ok because other kids were wearing them to church - after insinuating that I was the worst mother on the face of the planet! All this influenced the way I raised my own children greatly. I've always tried to let them be themselves and have some fun. Looking back, I can't help but resent her but she is my mother and she is getting old. Our relationship has been strained (and that is a very big understatement) for years. Lately she has been trying to reconcile. I'm trying to "forgive and forget" but having a hard time of it. Any suggestions on how to put the past behind me?
My mother and I had a love/hate relationship over the years as well. We get along for a while and then we head to separate corners. I do understand where she came from which helped me be more understanding.
ReplyDeleteI would love to think I will still be here 10 years from now. :-)
ReplyDeleteMexican chocolate doesn't sound too tasty to me...I like only milk or dark chocolate.
ReplyDeleteMexican chocolate is horrid? Really? But it's chocolate! Is there such a thing as horrid chocolate?
ReplyDeleteI've never tried Mexican chocolate. After reading your post, I really have no desire to try it.
ReplyDeleteMy mom and I had a love/hate relationship. It wasn't until my stepfather left her that we began to get along.
I have a strained relationship with my father. I finally came to the realization that at his age I will never change him, and I try to accept that it is what it is. We do not talk on the phone at all. We used to email but rarely do now. It makes me sad but I found that more contact with him brought me more pain. I still love him though.
