This was my first time participating in the A to Z Blog Challenge. I am already looking forward to next year! I think I am also going to either do it again on this blog, or on my book blog (I already have a planning file created.)
I chose to not focus on one particular topic for the entire challenge, because I found the thought of that rather boring, to be honest. I needed to be able to choose a topic for each letter that I was fairly passionate about. No doubt . . . I WAS very passionate about some of the topics, obviously. Some were particularly when I was writing about my experiences with my first son who passed away four years ago from complications of Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.
What I was not pleased about was that in one the actual A to Z Blog Challenge weekly posts, the writer said that at the end of the Challenge, each blog should have at least 100 new followers! I have seven. That is a little disappointing.
I did pre-write and schedule the majority of my posts. Most of the scheduled posts published when they were supposed to, until the letter P. Suddenly nothing was posting at all. This is also right around the time Blogger switched me to the new view. Was something lost in the switch? I had to go through and publish my post each day.
This Challenge did get me to write nearly every day and that is helpful. I was an aspiring writer once, but life and MANY other interests (sometimes I feel that I have too many, to be honest) get in the way.
Congratulations of finishing the challenge and sharing your reflections. If you would like to have many followers, you got to follow many blogs. I'm your follower now!

DeleteI was wondering about the "you should gain 100 followers" idea when I first read it. I think that it would be crazy to just join blogs without really enjoying them, but I also think that there were too many on the list for me to adequately go through. Perhaps as I go through the rest over the next weeks, I will find more to follow.
ReplyDeleteI also didn't have a theme for the month - not sure if I like the idea or not for next time around or not.
I did become a follower of a number of blogs in this challenge. It does not appear that those bloggers followed me back! Yes, the other part of the problem was that I just wasn't frankly all that interested in some of the blogs because I had trouble following what their post had to do with the A to Z Challenge. So, no, I didn't choose to follow every single blog I visited!
DeleteI am thinking about doing a book title each day for my book blog next year. For this blog, I have several months to contemplate if I want to do a theme or not. Again, it has to be a theme I am passionate about!
I want to read through your a to z posts because the ones I just read looked interesting. I'm with you on not following blogs just so they have followers. In my refelctions post I stated I quite trying to go for quantity and stayed with quality. I'm going through the list still--which is how I found you. I found the same situation of following people who don't follow you back. This is my first year to do it and I'm planning on doing it again. It was fun even if I didn't get a lot of followers. I did a theme this year. Sometimes it made it easier, sometimes harder.
