Last year my cousin had a new addition to her family.
Her first grandchild. A really cute little guy.
As soon as I got the news about his arrival I felt I wanted to make him a quilt.
I had a complete other idea about the fabrics I wanted to use. Just hadn't gotten around to starting to cut into the pieces I had pulled out of my stash for it when my favorite Quilt Shop advertised a few new fabrics that had just arrived.
Lets just say that I made a new plan for the quilt and made sure I had enough for it asap.
This is how the quilt turned out.
I'm sorry I didnt iron it before photo's where taken but we didnt have much daylight and I wanted to be able to deliver it before Christmas.
The front:
The backside. I wanted it to be colorful so he would have something to look at on both sides.
In addition to the quilt I had enough fabric leftovers to make two buckets in different sizes as well as two small toiletbags, also in different sizes.
I was really happy to be able to finish these items and deliver them to this little guy before Christmas. I think he likes them. The quilt is big enough to snuggle under for a few years to come.
I hope your week is going well and I will be linking up this week with Bambi and Crazy Mom Quilts. Thanks for stopping by.

Star block quilt finish.
One of my UFO's got finished last year as well.
This star block turned out rather well.
This star block turned out rather well.
I am still not really a fan of the quilt as you go technique but I quite enjoyed making these stars.
The quilt ended up in more of a baby quilt size but currently its used in front of the TV as a lap quilt.
I am happy that another UFO is done.
Wishing you all a great week and I hope those of you that got a lot of snow in Snowageddon over there has survived and had the opportunity to stay inside and sew a bit extra. Thanks for stopping by.

Summer 2015 sewing retreat result.
I had the opportunity to go to another sewing retreat with bag theme last summer at my favorite Quilt store. I love those retreats. We have so much fun and its nice to have two nights stay in a hotel close by. Like a minivacation just for me. Really a treat that I am so grateful for being able to go on.
Now I'm not the fastest sewer and I took my time to consider numerous changes to the original pattern etc. I actually ended up using techniques and details from at least three different patterns total to make it the way I wanted it.

In the end I was almost satisfied with the result. If/when I make another one in the future, I will make some smaller adjustments to make it perfect but I am really happy with this one. It fits all I need for every day use. Why do we tend to need bigger bags all the time? :P I thought the last one I made was big enough and it was at first but then I think it shrunk in some way because suddenly my stuff just didnt fit in there. :P In this one I can even fit my laptop, which I really like.
I decided to skip the finish along for 2016 simply because I dont want to jinx it. Hopefully this will be a good year and I will get many sewing projects done during the year anyway. Without any deadlines. I have so many projects I want to do and so many ideas I want to try out. And I will most likely get new ideas along the way.
I wish you all a great week and stay warm. Its freezing here. Around -20 celsius for a couple of days now.
Linking up as usual this week with Bambi and Crazy Mom Quilts again.

IT'S ALIVE!!!! Or well I am at least!
Well hello there everyone. Happy New Year!
I know I have been abscent from blogging for a very long time. Shame on me. 23rd march 2015 was my last post. I'm not going to go so much into details as to why I have been abscent but lets just say that 2014 and 2015 was kinda really bad years for me in so many ways.
Not saying that things has picked up really but with the new year I found some new energy and decided that 2016 will be a good year. I thought 2015 was going to be good too but that changed really suddenly at some point. With good old Murphy (as in Murpy's law) as a stalker, my life has always been like the life of a bowling pin. Whenever I get up on my feet I get knocked over again in one way or another. I'm just stubborn enough not to ever give up and always hope that things will turn around for the better in the end.
Well enough of that. New Year and NEW beginnings...but first lets clean up a bit of 2015 because I have been sewing every now and then even if I havent blogged about it. Thanks to my facebook crafting album I also have some records on when I did what which is really helpful when now catching up with this blog.
So bare with me for a few posts and I will try to catch you all up on what I have been working on over the last 3/4 of 2015 and the start of 2016.
First of all I wanted to get some progress on my pinapple quilt so I put all the blocks up on my designwall (actually had to attach one row with clover clips) and sorted them in the order I wanted. Then sew them alltogether.
I think it looks really nice. Next step will be to get a sashing around it and I'm leaning towards the darkest of the greens in there for that and then a wider sashing outside that in the lightgreen (not the base fabric) one. Hopefully this quilt will be finished this year but you never know.
Hopefully I will update again in the near future with more of the 2015 projects and get up to date at some point. We'll see.
I wonder if I dare to make a list for the 2016 Finish Along but not sure if it will jinx the year or not. Tried it once before and that really didn't work. In my mind I would love to but in reality I'm not sure.
Lets hope that 2016 will be a good year. It has started out ok.
I hope you enjoyed reading. Thanks for stopping by.

I went on a course again!
In the beginning of march I was attending another sewing course at the quiltshop where I usually go for courses.
This time it was a sewtogether bag and I was really looking forward to this.
And this time I wasn't really gonna make it a prototype as I usually do. This time I was gonna make something for me! So I went through my stash of sewing related fabrics and picked out three fabrics that has been with me for a few years. It was time to make something from them and since they where already in the contest for the presser feet storage's last summer it felt right to use them for the sewtogetherbag as I am going to use it for notions when I go to courses and sewing weekends.
I am really happy with it although I haven't decided yet which notions are going to reside in here but I'm sure that will come to me in the near future.
The inside looks like this:
You can also see a tiny bit of the inside of the pockets.
And the best part of it all. I have enough fabrics leftover from this project to be able to make another one but a bit smaller and then only with two inside pockets. That will come handy as well. I'm happy to be back sewing a bit and I hope to do it more and more again.

Accessories storage for my favorite boy.
So after making those storage's for hubby, my son wanted a set too. I let him chose colors himself and then he also had a little say in choice of fabric. I must say I'm proud of his choices. And I was actually a little surprised that he also chose a wine red in there. Made me extra happy. Although I do know he's got a good eye for matching colors. He's always been good with that in my opinion.
Anyway here is the set I made for him.
He is really happy with it and is using both rather much. I'm happy.
I hope you are enjoying your week. Stay tuned.

Long time no see. I'm back!
Well hello there blogging world. It's been a while since I posted something. However I have been reading a bit here and there since I follow a lot of quilt blogs through bloglovin.
Sometimes things happen and sometimes things doesn't turn out the way one expected etc. Either way I have been sewing a bit since I blogged last time.
Let's see. Since 23rd of September I've been to two sewing festivals and got some nice stuff there. Then I've been at one sewing weekend in November and had a lot of fun.
And I've been very busy with non sewing related stuff in between.
I do have a few things that is completed though.
First of all hubby needed a larger accessories storage too for something a bit larger than a charger. So I made him this from the leftovers of the fabrics for the small one.
Then he has also been using his cover for his phone so much that its actually been worn out so made him another one out of the last scraps out of these fabrics.
Not 100% happy with the last seem but I was tired and figured it will have to do anyway at the time. Stay tuned as I have a couple of more things to share with you later on.
Enjoy your weekend and looking forward to share more of my work with you soon.

Another fun course.
Last Sunday I attended another course at my favorite Quilt shop. The pattern was rather easy to comprehend and as usual I had a lot of fun.
Since I'm normally not the fastest one on these courses I decided to only make one of the items instead of trying to get two done as the lady said was possible. I think it was a good decision even if I actually ended up having an hour extra to spare. But who doesn't love some extra time at a quilt shop?!
Anyway the outcome may not be so big but it was what my husband needed at the moment so I dedicated this "prototype" for his usage.
The fabric choices are made to match the colors of his phone case and his Ipad mini cover. Hubby is really happy about this one so it will get a lot of usage.
I will definitely make more of these as it was a really fun pattern and the bags are available in four sizes.
Progress is also made on the tablerunner and I hope to be able to show some pictures of it soon.
I hope you all have a great week and I wish you all the best. Take care and thanks for stopping by.
