Wednesday Hodgepodge

Wednesday again.  Look at me getting this post up at O Dark Thirty bright and early!  That's what happens when you've been stuck inside for daysssss.  Not that I had anywhere to go or anything to do but the fact that I couldn't even if I wanted to was just rude.  Thank goodness Joyce puts the questions up early the day before. She's the best!
Annnyway . . . On with the Hodge . . .

1. A new Miss America was crowned on Saturday night-did you watch? If you were a contestant what would your talent be?
Ooooh good one.   I did not watch.  I think if I were a contestant today my talent would be . . .  ~ pausing here for the racking of the brain ~  planning and executing a vacation wardrobe or perhaps shopping.  Hmm.  Or maybe planning and executing a dinner party.  Hmm.  Talent is talent, people.  Don't judge.
2. Do you have houseplants? Real or fake?
Yes.  Real and faux - so much prettier sounding than fake.  Actually half faux really.  My faux trees were actually real trunks of trees at one time.  Or at least that's what the designer gal said.

3. When you were in school did you speak up or were you more of the hide your face, avoid eye contact, and pray the teacher didn't call on you type of student?
I'm pretty sure I kept the lowest profile possible.  Things changed a tad in high school after I made the rally squad and took a speech and debate class and found that I did indeed like me a microphone.  Ha.  Who knew?

4. Next Monday marks the Chinese New Year...what do you order when someone suggests Chinese food?
I am not a fan of the spicy stuff so I pretty much go for the pork fried rice, beef and broccoli, maybe some sort of chow mien dish ( I like noodles) and pot stickers are a favorite too.

5. How would you define a miracle? What would it take for you to consider something a miracle?
Well a REAL miracle is obviously an amazing, unexplainable, incomprehensible happening that but for the Grace of God would not happen.  A mini miracle could be as simple as all my children calling me on any given day just to chat.

6. What's your favorite Disney song? If you're stuck you'll find a list here.
I'm going to go with Colors of the Wind.  I guess.

7. I should have _____________ yesterday.
Talked the Hubby into removing some wallpaper.  Drat.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Miss Katherine-A. helped me with some technical difficulties on Monday . . . her face book post . . .

Skyping with my mom so I could teach her how to use her Kindle while she finds pictures of the books she took on her iPhone and is using her iPad to purchase them. Wow.

I'm taking the 'Wow' as a compliment and testament to the fact that I, the Mom, am pretty tech savvy.  The fact that I could not quite grasp the concept of the books somehow getting from Amazon and my ipad or computer onto my Kindle is a moot point.  Anyway she explained and walked me through it via skype.  It didn't take long and then she had to go . . .  The non un-boyfriend (yes, he's graduated to a NON un-boyfriend) was picking her up to have dinner and meet his parents.  Cuz that's what non un-boyfriends do.  I guess.

Why he wants his parents to fall in love with her, because of course they will meet her is beyond me.

I'm just sayin'

Your talent is way more useful than baton twirling if you ask me : )

Non un-boyfriend? Does this mean he is in reality the boyfriend? Does he call her the un-girlfriend? Do you like the un-boyfriend?

Planning a dinner party does take real talent. I give you that one!

Non un-boyfriend is a double negative. This means in short, he's the boyfriend. Hey, I did listen once or twice in English.

Way to go for being tech savvy!

Hopping over from Wednesday Hodgepodge! ~Cathy

OK, the non-unboyfriend thing has me totally stumped! Of course, it sounds like something my 19 old daughter would say. Kids these days! :)

I would say making people laugh with your writing is a talent. Thanks, and may all go well with the non un-boyfriend. Reminds me of how they say "pretty" in West Virginia. They say ,"she ain't ugly none."

Okay so strike the non-un and make it un-squared?

I just happen to have a mini miracle today as Jake called me. He was board at work with the city of Seattle shut down and only he and one other made it in today. He was waiting for a conference call at 10:00 but still, he thought to call his mom.
