HODGEPODGE
1. A new Miss America was crowned on Saturday night-did you watch? If you were a contestant what would your talent be? No, don't watch them. My 'cup of tea' for style and grace are the Oscars. LOL My talent? Oh gosh, probably playing the piano....tho, I haven't tinkled in almost 10 years!! :::insert snort:::
2. Do you have houseplants? Real or fake? I have just a few...real. My plants are mainly outdoors in soil or in pots on the patio. [Remember, we have cats, and indoor plants need to be high up to keep them from chewing on them.]
3. When you were in school did you speak up or were you more of the hide your face, avoid eye contact, and pray the teacher didn't call on you type of student? From about 4th grade on....I won a few class accolades that year...I was no longer the bashful girl; ending up being somewhat popular - school plays, acting club, booster club, math club, one year I was class secretary, etc. Before then, I stuck my head in the sand and remained quiet, only showing up to do my work and go home and play.
4. Next Monday marks the Chinese New Year...what do you order when someone suggests Chinese food? Chinese food? Whoa...I always make sure I go somewhere for Chicken Teriyaki. But, in all honesty, I think it's a Japanese dish. With Fried Rice and tons of soy sauce. I guess if you get down to it, the Chinese dish would be shrimp egg rolls. I love the hot and sour soup also...or egg drop soup which I haven't had in years. Question is, can I use chopsticks? Nope.
5. How would you define a miracle? What would it take for you to consider something a miracle? Something extraordinary --- and, that would be the same answer for the 2nd part.

7. I should have gone to the beach yesterday. Instead, stayed home and did laundry, and helped Bud a bit on the kitchen floor.
8. Insert your own random thought here. One of my favorite thoughts from a hero of mine... "My theory on housework is, if the item doesn't multiply, smell, catch fire, or block the refrigerator door, let it be. No one else cares. Why should you?"
~ Erma Bombeck
Also, I must apologize for not visiting those who left comments yesterday ---We've been busy doing the kitchen floor tiles...got 'em all ripped up, now we have to lay the new tiles. Hope I'm forgiven.
ADDED: Today, some well-known, popular sites on the internet are protesting with a 'blackout'...I understand their issues. But thing is, this Congressional Bill that is a threat to 'freedom of information' [such as an encyclopedia ---aka Wikipedia]. Will it pass? Is it really a threat?

I don't expect you to comment every time I do. I just wanted to see what you have to say and feast my eyes on the diamonds and hearts again. :-)
ReplyDeleteI loved Erma Bombeck. She was a hero as far as I'm concerned. Many fans offered her their kidney, and she would not accept it. She died way too young. We celebrate Chinses New Year because our granddaughter is from China!
ReplyDeleteLooks to be a beatuiful setting to visit. I should have gone yo the beach yesterday too, but an icy chill wind has been blowing.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos of the gardens, what a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteAnother good post.
ReplyDeleteHallo liebe Anni,
ReplyDeletedeine Wasserfotos finde ich großartig.
Herzliche Grüße
Marianne ♥
Dein Blogoutfit ist auch klasse. War einige verreist, hatte Geburtstag. *drückdich*
Terrific shots.
ReplyDeleteI love that "cowhand" piece.
ReplyDeleteI love fountains. You found some good ones.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to read more about that particular issue...I don't know enough to comment. I loved Erma Bombeck-such a funny wise lady. Your pictures are so pretty. I am a fan of a big blue sky!
ReplyDeleteI'll be honest here... I have not read anything of background, on this "black out." Although I have heard of it.
ReplyDeleteWill any good be done, either way? And what is the best *good*? I don't know.
Mmmmmm, I have a *Grumpy* post today. Hope you have time to pop over and read it. :-)

The beautiful botanic garden looks like a very nice place to visit! Thank´s for sharing!
ReplyDeleteDear One, I'd have taken this discussion to private email but I don;t see an email addy link anywhere.
ReplyDeleteYou wanted the reply-in-comments feature. And I did not.
I did not, because I never return to a blog, once I have read the latest post. So therefore, I won't see any replies-to-questions, made in comments, by any blogger.
In fact, I seldom read comments in blogs... Just the blogger's post. I don't have the time.
Since you want this new thing, I take it that you do return to blogs, to look through their comments, again?
Just two views. Hooray for differing views!!!

Good looking blog design, a shame Valentine's isn't further away so you could use it longer. :o)
ReplyDeleteNo, believe it or not, that Fairy is actually the African Violet Fairy by Mark Roberts but I have the Mardi Gras Fairy and he was shown in my last Friday's post where I showed all my Mardi Gras decor.
Happy Wednesday!
Haha! I'll have to remember that quote. Something only Erma Bombeck would say!
ReplyDeleteEnjoying your new blog look btw.
Hi Anni--sorry to not leave comments on your posts for so long. I've just sorted out a problem with my google account--wouldn't let me post comments where you needed to specify the account. Clear as mud? Anyway, hope you and Bud are well and enjoying life.
ReplyDeleteLoved your many takes on watery Wednesday--from the beautiful to the not so beautiful. But that's in the eye of the beholder, right?
Good morning! I love your Valentine's look! Can't believe it is around the corner...Your pictures are soo gorgeous! I haven't heard about this black out thing so I guess I better read up on it. Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteWe're going back to the Coastal Bend area in a week or two...what Botanical Gardens have you been posting photos of? I'd love to visit it while there.
ReplyDeleteI like that water jug fountain, awesomeness!
ReplyDeleteOutdoor Wednesday
First I have to tell you how much I like the new header.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the photos as always. I love going to new places even though it is through their photos.
Have a wonderful day sweet friend.
love the sculpture. Thanks for sharing. Debbie
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful pictures from the Botanical Gardens. The nature trail would be my favourite part, I love walking on trails like that:-)
ReplyDeleteI don't watch any of the pageants, never been interested in anything like that. I'm just surprised they're still going on and that someone hasn't accused them of demeaning women! lol I was so shy throughout my school years, I'd cringe if I was even asked to speak in class. Now they probably wouldn't be able to keep me quiet! hehe
Now, Anni, no need to apologize when you don't have time to visit, I'm sure Bud is appreciative of the help you're giving him with the floor. Can't wait to see pictures of it once you're all done.
I'm now going to go read that article about the internet blackout, it's the first I hear of it. Figures it's all to do with politics though! lol xoxo
Those cats!!
ReplyDeleteOohhh, I wish I could play the piano, that's a REAL talent!

I love all water features...especially rippling.
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures,
Hugs Madi and Mom
nice place. I especially liked the sculpture shots of that old man.
ReplyDeleteLove your random thought about housework! LOL
ReplyDeleteI love the Cow Hand sculpture. Can't help wondering where it is.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your informative blog, Anni! Thanks for coming by my blog and the nice comments you made there. I do hope you will visit again. I'm not at all sure what the hurrah is about the internet black-out...nor why some want to do away with Wiki. I don't like the idea the Big Brother watches and hears everything we do - because that implies they are looking for our mistakes which would be used against us if we attempted to crusade against anything "they" are for! ☺ Stimulating conversation here - really.
ReplyDeleteErma Bombeck sure did have words of wisdom, didn't she? Unfortunately, my dishes seem to multiply faster than I can get them cleaned!
ReplyDeleteHi Anni, how are you today?
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting. I'm most interested with the cow hand sculpture.
I like many Chinese food, such as chicken noodle, cap jay, pu yong hai, and many other more :)
I feel sorry for wikipedia's black out. I think we all deserve free knowledge :(
LOL, I didn't wear my glasses and using my husband's laptop and wonder what you and Bud were doing on the kitchen floor? So you putting in new tiles?
ReplyDeleteI never watch beauty contests shows. I refused to watch them, a product of Helen Reddy's I am a woman, hear me roar.
thanks for the LINK... love the statues, true talent in that artist
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome
