The bones were perfect and I had a vision for it as an end table in Lola's room, but it was sent to the garage until I had time to work with it! When my girlfriend Holly needed help refinishing her kitchen table and chairs (oh and by the way, could we do it in spray paint?) out came the the little dresser and I killed two birds with one stone!
I haven't ever spray painted furniture, so I wanted to actually try and see if I could get mine done before Holly came over, to see if it worked (ok, I knew it worked, I have seen others do it) but I didn't even get close to getting it done, so I just worked on mine while we worked on hers at the same time and I kept my fingers crossed!
Here is everything I used:
Valspar Interior/Exterior Gloss Spray Paint in Exotic Sea
Sandpaper
Paint Brush
Valspar Satin Unique Interior Faux Finish Clear Protector
*I did whip out a can of spray primer and had every intention of priming before I sprayed, but when I started to tackle one of the drawers, I hated how it was turning out, so I nixed that step and went straight to the color. I know this goes against some peeps painting standards, but I did what I thought would work for the dresser and I must say it turned out beautiful!
I used about 3 light coats of spray paint, waiting about 15-20 minutes in between coats before I sprayed again!
When it was all finished I waited for it to dry overnight. I actually really like how the little dresser looked without being distressed, but decided after I put in the drawers (and it chipping the paint a little, not where you could exactly see, but still...) to distress it, just a little! That and if Lola scratches it up, I can't really be mad at her!!!
After I finished sanding, the entire table got a good wipe down before I put on the finishing coat. We had errands to run for the day, so it was left to sit and dry all day.
When we got home, it was ready to put the handles back on! I didn't touch them, but can't believe how much better and different they look?!
Here is the finished product, ready to go into Lola's room!
One more look at the before and after side-by-side, and I realized after that I switched up the drawers! Love all the changes!

I adore it!! I would love to hv Avery's room in a style like Lo's. You did an amazing job! You rock! I love how the "distressed" look of it and my favorite part is the color!
Looks adorable! I can totally imagine that in a little girls room. Stopping over from Tatortots and Jello...
HellOOOOO gorgeous!!!
Looks beautiful!
I have a question - was this a solid wood piece? I am asking because in my garage right now I have a 3 pc set, two night tables and a dresser that are eerily similar. In my head they look beautiful (two tone creamy off-white with grey trim, little bit of distressing) but mine are laminate and I don't know how they will stand up to the distressing part! Any advice? Thanks:)
The blue is so perfect with this little french Provençal nite stand.

Such a sweet little end table! I love that color! I used it on a front porch chair and it's one of my favorite projects! I love your end table!!

OMG, just found you thru Be Different Act Normal and I love this!!! Great job, I need one just like it;)
Too cute!! I just found the same nightstand in the same condition as yours originally was at our local thrift store for $5!!! I took of the design on the front of the drawer off and painted the nightstand white to match my little girls shabby chic room! Wish I would have though to spray paint because I could not get the drawer design to look pretty with a paint brush..hence why I took it off ;)
Great redo..its adorable!
