Girl's Shirt Dress

FINALLY tackled a sewing project that I have been wanting to make since last summer.

MADE has a great tutorial on turning a men's dress shirt into a girl's dress! And it was SOOOO easy!! I am kicking myself for donating a bunch of Aaron's old shirts. Hang on to yours, you'll want to make a ton of these!

The dress I made for Emma was from a shirt I picked up from Goodwill. It was practically brand new and even had the dry cleaning tags on it. It was $6 and purple! Too perfect!
The pattern is basically a peasant dress style. In the tutorial she also adds a waistband, but I skipped it for time purposes. You could also leave the elastic out of the sleeve bottoms and make "flutter" sleeves instead. I plan on doing that next time around.
Sorry for the hula hoop in every picture! Emma had just gotten it and wanted to "practice" since we were outside :)
Good luck and Happy Sewing!! I will definitely be making a few more of these this summer!

Great! Now I can make use of those shirts that my boys have out -grown and have an adorable upcycled wardrobe for my grandaughter.

Made is just wonderful!! I love how this turned out but have yet to try it! I have several men's shirts for sale on ebay...maybe this is what I will do with the ones that don't sell!
