I pulled it out and re-examined it. Should I tear it apart or should I continue? The spring is not too far away (at least here in California), and having a beautiful tablecloth for the garden table to have tea on would be so nice. Besides, I have already bragged about this tablecloth to my blogging friends!
Of course, I have to continue this crocheting adventure!
So I started to crochet it with new vigor and energy. Here is the update:
In August

In September
And here is what I have now. It actually starts to look like a tablecloth. Doesn’t it?
I'm joining a link party at Tea Rose Home. Please, come and see more craft ideas there.
I also link to several Friday blog parties: Show and Tell Friday, Favorite Things Friday, Hodgepodge Friday, and Flaunt it Friday.

The tablecloth is looking fantastic! You scared me when you mentioned taking it all apart! But what a big job you have ahead of you! I'm all admiration! I've had you on my sidebar forever--but I neglected to "follow". I'm adding my name now--
Dearest Olga,
Wow, and even with pineapples, you know that they are the symbol of hospitality!
You manage to crochet with a perfectly even hand; very nice looking work. What is the number of thread you are using? It is hard to tell what diameter you got there in that photo.
You will finish this; no doubt and then you enjoy it for years to come.
Lots of compliments, you possess a very special fine craft from the old world. Crocheting with some thicker thread, that can be done by many but not so much this way.
Lots of love,
Mariette
I just took a crochet lesson to find what I was doing wrong after not doing it for 30 years. This is such a beautiful project you're doing. I'm glad you didn't tear it out.
Olga - this tablecloth will be so similar to one my husband's grandmother made for us for our wedding. I used it on a round cake table and over the years it's been a perfect compliment to a table filled with sandwiches, squares and cakes...for bridal or baby showers I've hosted and once I loaned it to my husband's second cousin for her wedding cake table. It will be a treasure for years to come. It's sometimes hard to take up a forgotten project but this tablecloth will be beautiful!
Olga that is just beautiful! I can see all the effort and work that went into it and I am sure it will be a treasured heirloom for many years to come!
Have a happy day!

Olga this is beautiful! So much work but such a treasure you will have when it's done. hugs, Linda
Thank you all for kind comments. They encourage me a lot ;-)
So far, the tablecloth is about 40 inches in diameter. I use Aunt Lydia's Crochet Thread size 10.
Oh my you are so talented and this tablecloth is gorgeous!
Gorgeous! I thought such beautiful crochet work was a lost art! My grandmother made many such treasures! Keep crocheting!
This is gorgeous! I don't know why you would take it apart when you've done such a beautiful job!
Oooh my! That is gorgeous! That is sure to become a treasured heirloom! Great job.

Hi Olga. This is truly a beautiful project. Thanks for stopping by & I am your follower too!
Hello Olga, very beautiful and looks surely nice on a spring inspired table for coffee. Have a great week! Anja
It is beautiful. The best projects take time.
It is beautiful! I am glad you decided to continue on. I will look forward to seeing it adorn your table.
Hugs,
Terri
I know the tablecloth has been finished for over a year now but had to say, its absolutely beautiful. I used to crochet with the smaller thread but my hands won't allow me to do it anymore. I am good for about 15 minutes of fine work a week. Would take me years to finish a project like this. Its awesome!!!
