Rosemary Lemonade Syrup
Summer is almost here! With it, will come hot days and cool drinks.
Let me tell you how my new obsession with lemonade began.
These cuties wanted to attend a small craft fair in our hometown. On a glorious Spring day in April, we shopped and had a great chat in the sunshine.
Our hostess served a cute veggie tray, crackers with cheese and Rosemary Lemonade. Of course, we asked if she ever shared her lemonade recipe. Her response? Simple syrup, lemons and rosemary. That's it!
After a little experimentation, here's my recipe.
Rosemary Lemonade Syrup
1 cup Water
1 cup Sugar
2 Sliced Lemons
1 teaspoon Rosemary
1/2 teaspoon Basil
Place water and sugar in medium saucepan. Place on medium heat until sugar is melted and water is hot. No need to boil, but it doesn't hurt anything. Add lemons, rosemary and basil to the saucepan and stir gently. Cover. Let steep until water is cool. Strain into a clean jar. Keep refrigerated.
Here are ways to use Rosemary Lemonade Syrup:
Lemonade:
Mix 1 part syrup with 3 parts water
Sparkling Lemonade:
Add 1 tablespoon syrup to your favorite sparkling water
Lemony Spritzer:
1 tablespoon syrup, 4 ounces white wine, 4 ounces sparkling water
Hard Lemonade:
1 tablespoon syrup, 2 ounces vodka or whiskey, 6 ounces water
Enjoy any of the above over ice. Garnish with lemon slices, rosemary sprigs or basil leaves.
Happy Summer!
