Hi, Stampers!

Fun folds make every handmade card extra special, and today’s blog hop is FULL of great ideas! Whether you’re looking for a unique way to surprise someone or just want to try something new, you’re in for a treat. I’ve teamed up with very creative SU demonstrators to bring you a lineup of creative, must-try designs. I began the search to find the perfect fun fold to showcase something really special. Once I found it, the search was on for the prettiest designer paper I had. When I found the Perennial Lavender, I knew that was the one, since I loved it at first sight and hadn’t used it in such a long time. So, it only made sense to pair it with its coordinating bundle, Painted Lavender. This bundle with the coordinating paper will always be one of my favorites so I can’t imagine it leaving my stash any time soon.

If you’ve been holding onto paper you adore, let this be your nudge — use it! Tell me: what’s the one product in your stash you loved at first sight but haven’t touched in forever?

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • This Half Hexagon Pop-up card is such a great fun fold for you to try! I found the tutorial through the Facebook group called Laura’s Craft Room Tips & Tutorials, which I just recently discovered. I used some of her measurements but added more panels, so I will mark them as optional.
  • Card Base:
    • Cardstock: 6-1/2 x 5, scored at 1″ on both sides of the 6-1/2″ side. DSP for the inside of this panel: 4-7/8 x 4-3/8 and 4-7/8 x 7/8 (2)
    • Cardstock: 10-3/4 x 1 (2): score both at 7/8, 2, 4-1/4, 6-1/2, 8-3/4, and 9-7/8. DSP 2-1/8 x 7/8 (6).
    • Once that was done, I adhered these all together.
    • Window Sheet: I cut my window sheet wider than Laura’s. It measured 4-3/4 x 1-1/2

Now, the FUN Part!

  • So, beautiful paper needs its moment to shine, so all I had to do was create a focal image. With paper this pretty, I knew that I wouldn’t have to work too hard to find the right scrap of DSP.
  • Firstly, I cut the wonderful frame from the new Framed Scenes dies from the Highland Heather cardstock.
  • Then, I cut the scrap of Perennial Lavender paper and stamped the Painted Lavender sentiment in Highland Heather ink. Once that was done, I trimmed it to fit the frame and used Tear n Tape to adhere them together.
  • After that, I stamped the little butterflies in Gorgeous Grap ink, then filled in the small amount of white space with Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blends marker.
  • Next, I cut out the branches from more scraps of DSP, then on the large one, I colored it with the Light Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends marker. Then, they were adhered to the card front.
  • Finally, I added a few of the Tinsel Gems for a little sparkle.

Then, on the back…

  • Back Panel:
    • Card Base Cardstock: 4-1/2 x 5 and white cardstock: 4-3/8 x 4-7/8
    • Optional: Side Panels Cardstock: 1 x 5 (2) and DSP 7/8 x 4-7/8 (2). It was difficult to tell from her photos, but I don’t think Laura covered them. However, I think the card looks much better by covering the tabs from the top and bottom strips.
    • On the white cardstock, I stamped the flowers in Highland Heather ink across the bottom of the panel.
    • Then, I stamped the sentiment from So Sincere stamp set in Highland Heather ink and cropped it out with the small Stylish Shapes die. I did add ink to the edge of the cut out sentiment, but, unfortunately, I grabbed the Fresh Freesia marker instead of the Highland Heather. I didn’t catch that till it was adhered to the card, but don’t think it’s too bad…
    • Lastly, I stamped more little butterflies and added them to the flowers and sentiment (with Tinsel Gem added).

  8. Love your card! This is the one DSP where I have nothing left and I’m glad to see that it is carrying over. Will I order more? No! Why? Because the product I have in my stash is a 3′ high stack of unused DSP! I have put a lock on the button that allows me to click on ordering DSP…lol! Wow, Musa is a month old already! You can see the love his big brother has for him. TFS.
