I will be attending 9 am Mass and then hosting a big Easter Dinner for my family in the afternoon....
I am really looking forward to spending time with my family...
Wednesday, April 16th, was the One Year Anniversary of my husband Joe's Passing.....
A morning Mass at my church was celebrated in memory of him and I was happy to see a lot of my friends there even though I know they routinely attend morning daily Mass....
I spent the morning doing what Joe normally did...
Shopping and making his rounds to various places, talking to people he normally visited with.....
I have to admit that I felt peaceful that day and almost like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders, having made it through the 1st year, which is always the hardest...
My sons had a harder time of it though....
I am so thankful for everyone who took the time to reach out to me on that day, whether it is a phone call, an email, a text or a private FB message!!!!
This post is a long one, since I skipped Thursday's post, so I suggest you find a comfy chair and grab a cuppa whatever you like and relax a bit.....
I finally got around to packing away all the Winter/Christmas decorations that graced the front of my townhouse...
I then cleaned up the porch a bit and decorated it for Easter....
For the last several years, I really did not decorate out front too much for Easter because of our constantly changing Spring weather here in NEPA....
This is what it looked like last year....
Sort of sparse....
And this is what it looks like this year...
I made a few changes....
This is what the front of the house looks like from my parking lot.....
But for Easter, I decided to use some of those flowers on the front porch to spruce up my bare pots....
I had bought these faux boxwood bushes in Ollie's a few months ago...
I bought 2 packages of plastic Easter eggs at Dollar Tree the other day and strung them together using twine in my stash....
Making a garland.....
That I hung on the porch railing....
I also picked up 2 carrot stakes at Dollar Tree....
I bought this Easter slate at a church flea market 2 years ago....
I added some faux flowers and flower solar lights, along with the carrot stakes to these planters in front of the railing.....
Raked the mulch, freshening it up......
A fresh coat of mulch will really make the flower beds look good....
I will plant annuals in the pots in these front flower beds but I intend on using some of the faux flowers on the front porch....
I also freshened up my next door neighbor's flower beds....

Your home is beautifully Easter ready, Debbie. I hope you have a wonderful Easter Sunday. I was happy to hear that the one year anniversary of your husband's passing brought you peace.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you and your family, Deb! I love the way you refreshed those "Welcome" signs on your porch and I love the colors on your cross Easter flag! So vibrant! Your idea for stringing plastic eggs into a garland is brilliant, too! Enjoy this special time with your family!
ReplyDeleteEverything just looks so wonderful! I love the bright pastels and those little granddaughters will love all the Easter decorations! Happy Easter and enjoy your dinner with your family.
ReplyDeleteAs always, spectacular! A lot of work, a lot of love there! Happy Easter, Debbie!
ReplyDeleteStringing the eggs was a great idea! Looks great as do all your wonderful decorations. And your forsythia and your neighbors look so good. Hope you had a nice Easter and have a great week ahead.
ReplyDeleteWow, Debbie, I don't know how you pull it off! As always, the decorations are fun, endearing, and sweet! Sorry about the passing of your husband, I know that must be tough. Sending hugs. I hope you had a blessed Easter!
ReplyDeleteThankful that you had a sense of peace going through the first anniversary of your husband's passing doing the things he would have done. I would like to think he was right there with you. I am sorry the day was more difficult for your sons. Hope some of their happier memories will bring them comfort.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, I love love love all the bunnies and the carrots and whimsy and fun of your Easter decorations.
Debbie I always look forward to seeing what you're up to both outside and inside. Your porch looks fantastic.
