It's been ten days since my big boy surgery. My vet's instructions were for me to stay exercise restricted for the next ten-fourteen days and I should be wearing my cone continuously during this time. I've been a very good boy wearing my cone and then my dandy britches all day and all night long. The limited exercise has been very difficult as I am a Spaniel pup. The Trazodone was okay but three tabs would have been more effective than one😉
My appointment to see my vet is on Wednesday at 9am. Seeing as I have been such a good boy and it has been ten days - what do you think about me going britches-free on Tuesday? Mom thinks waiting one more day isn't going to make me heal any more or any less plus she is anxious to see how "nosy" I am going to be with my surgery site. She's also has had enough of taking my britches off and then on again every time I go outside for business!
So what do you think?

ReplyDeleteOh yes, definitely try an attire-free day... they can always go back on if needs be. I suspect you are over it and just want to get back to normal. The vets are being cautious (human things like litigation mitigation and all that guff...) and that's fine, but when you're ready, you're ready! Hugs and wags YAM-aunty xxx
Duke I agree with Mom tomorrow should be the perfect day to be sans cone and dandy britches.
ReplyDeleteI predict if the itch is gone you won't bother things and if you do she can always add cone and dandy britches.
BTW just so you knows...i love today's pose of your nose
Hugs cecilia
I say yes as long as mom is right there. It's been a long haul for you. You're so handsome.
ReplyDeleteI linked this post to Awww Mondays.
Have a woof woof day and week, Duke. My best to your wonderful mom. ♥
Have always believed in the "less is more" theory. Works for many things in life. And "trial 'n' error" is another good philosophy. So we'd say britches off, cone away... shortie walk, a bit of play. You can always put the car in reverse, right ...
ReplyDeleteWe say give it a try, Duke! Your Mom can always make "adjustments" if necessary.

We vote for britches-free for you as long as you don't try to itch your stitches too much, Duke.
ReplyDeleteIf the incision looks like it is healing well, not red or anything, give it a try. As long as you leave it alone without the panties, we say go without.
ReplyDeleteWe vote for Mom to give it a try. If you start to go at the area and Mom is attentive, she can always put the britches back on. We are so proud of you, Duke.

We vote with your Mom so go for it Dandy Duke!
ReplyDeleteLulu: "We're a bit late, Duke, but we see how the voting went! We send lots of tail wags for britches-free success!"
