Almost (Cajun Joke), Sunday Selections and Sunday Selfie, an A to Z Post

Just because Sandee of Comedy Plus is no longer hosting a Silly Sunday blog hop, do not expect me to quit telling Cajun jokes, especially as it has now become a habit.

Grandpa and Grandma's friend Ms. C brought them an Easter cake.  Grandpa insisted on sending a nice big serving for us to bring our little Annie.  She's too young to eat it, of course, but Grandpa wanted to send her something "from the Easter Bunny."  By next year, she'll be more ready and meanwhile, #2 Son and His Bride can have cake.

Grand-père Boudreaux allus be tryin' joke wit' Tee, an' dis time, it be 'bout de Easter Bunny.

"Dere I was, drivin' home late one Holy Sattidy night, an' I done seen som'pin hoppin' cross de road, an' I done had to hit de brake, an' den I see it mus' be de Easter Bunny, an' I's 'bout to run him over!"

An' Tee say, "Did you done hit him, Grand-père?"

An' Grand-père say, "Mais, non, I done miss him by a hare!"

Sunday Selections was started as a way for bloggers to use photos that might otherwise just languish in their files.  The rules have been relaxed, and it is now simply a showcase for your photos, new or old, good or bad, although nothing rude, please.  It was hosted by River, who still participates, and is now hosted by Elephant's Child.

Some fun from last week's Palm Sunday celebration.

Sam the donkey was there.  He has the "cross" on his back, as so many donkeys do.

The donut wall was set up.

Gathering on the steps.

Pastors wearing their fanciest vestments (most Sundays, these stay in the closet for all but the 11am service).

The pastor who read the call to worship had his son with him, and the child spent the whole time trying to bat the program out of his daddy's hand.

Yes, it's a shofar, a ram's horn, and this young man does a great job blowing the horn to signal it's time to start the procession around the street.

The whole street is closed and we process around.

After the service, it's time for the petting zoo, face painting, balloon animals, egg hunts, and eating lunch together.

This week, The Charismatic Enigma SissyCat wants to join the Kitties Blue at The Cat On My Head for their Sunday Selfies Blog Hop.

She calls this her, "I'm in a rush because I want to get back to my nap" selfie.

Today is Easter!  This year, it Easter/Pascha on both the Western and Orthodox Christian calendars (sometimes they are different).

The day is a remembrance of the resurrection of Jesus.

This means it is also National Baked Ham with Pineapple Day in the US, and it is  Paskar in Iceland, where they believe on Easter all trolls and evil beings sleep through the day, making it an auspicious day to look for the wishing stone.

Thanks to Barb Kowalik and The Cat Blogosphere for the event badge.

  1. Is that a naturally occurring cross or is it painted on the donkey for the day? I remember watching the parades around the block from the Greek Church on the corner when I lived in a different suburb. Happy Easter.
