Layers of Beauty Sympathy Card for Creative Crafters #87

Hi, Stampers!

A new Creative Crafters Challenge kicks off today and I wanted you to see my book-binding fun fold card (such an easy one!) You might remember this card I made with the same bundle. Both of these cards show how versatile this Layers of Beauty bundle is! And this is the last chance you have at getting the discount on the bundle (stamps, die and stencils)! What makes the sparkle on the flowers here was Metallic Enamel Effects! What a beautiful transformation for those flowers! Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

• Firstly, this 5-1/2 square card base started with cardstock, cut at 11 x 5-1/2 and scored at 4-3/8 and 5-1/2.
• After that, I cut Mixed Media Florals DSP to 4-1/8 x 5-1/4 and white cardstock, cut to 4 x 5-1/8. Then, the white cardstock was dry embossed in the Forever Plaid embossing folder.
• For the left panel, I cut the Mixed Media Florals DSP to 5-1/4 x 1 and 5-1/8 x 7/8.
• Don’t forget to adhere the small panel down at the scoreline!

And now, the fun part!

• I know I’ve said it before, but if you are hesitant about coloring stamped images, stencils are your best friend. I stamped this beautiful floral image, then started the stenciling process. It’s so fun to lift that final stencil and see your creation!
• But (please don’t ask me why because the stenciled image was so pretty), I decided to see if adding just a smidge of Metallic Enamel Effects would step it up a bit. And before I knew it, all of the flowers had a beautiful metallic sparkle! Sadly, the camera wasn’t able to pick it up but it’s beautiful IRL.
• More leaves were cut with the Layers of Beauty dies from the DSP and added around the floral image.
• After that, I added two different Blooming Pearls to the flowers and stems for even more sparkle. Do I like sparkle? You bet!
• Finally, since I didn’t have any in my stash, I decided to add the sympathy sentiment from the Something Fancy stamp set.
