Blogging has always been a stress reliever for me along with an avenue to share my passions which are my home and my garden.....
I
feel it is a personal Journal that, hopefully, someday, my Twin
Granddaughters will be able to look back on to learn about who I
was....
I will be posting 3 times a week on MONDAYS, THURSDAYS and SATURDAYS....
As always, click on each picture if you would like to enlarge it....

A NOTE ABOUT COMMENTS
I
enjoy reading your comments and will return the favor by visiting and
commenting on your blog or reply to you directly here if you do not have
a blog but I do have my comment section set to Moderation due to
spammers and hackers so your comment will not appear immediately...
And since I have a very busy life, like most of us do, it may take me awhile to return your comments but I promise I will....

I finally finished decorating the Living Room for Easter....
Today, I will be sharing how I decorated Joe's Grandmother's Hutch in the Living Room and what I call the "foyer" for Easter....
My Living Room is a good size at 16' by 20' with the front door opening directly into it....
I had an area of imported Italian tile installed that runs from my front door to the stairs....
This has greatly saved my carpeting and rugs over the years as we come into the house through the front door.....
You can see that I have placed a chair so that it's back sort of creates a "foyer".....
I
do not have access to the house through the back because
the ground slopes upward at a pretty steep angle, behind my back yard
fence, up to the row of townhouses behind me along with all the trees
that have grown back there....
In
the past, 2 people actually fell on that slope and broke their legs so
no one uses it as an point of entry or egress to their houses....
To the right of the front door when you walk in.....
Is a marble topped plant sand that I bought at an estate sale.....
I decided not to use the bowl for this peach vintage bowl and pitcher set because I have no idea where I put it but I am sure it will turn up eventually.....
While vacationing at the Jersey shore many years ago, we went to a Craft Fair in Cape May, NJ and I bought several of these light switch covers that have pictures on them.....
Of course, they all have Victorian scenes....
A bunny and a ceramic egg.....
A candle was placed in the apothecary jar on the shelf below.....
I changed all the drapes, curtains and linens over from Fall/Winter to Spring/Summer in the Living Room.....
This is what the front door looked like in the Fall/Winter....
And now with the Spring/Summer peach lace curtains.....
My mother changed all the drapes and curtains in her home every Fall and Spring....
I only do that in the Living Room and the Den.....
I bought this pediment at a yard sale for $3 and stripped off the white paint that was on it and then stained it.....
A peach ceramic sigh that says "Welcome" hangs on it....
I hung this Bunny that I embellished from the valance.....
This is a metal door that I did a faux stain treatment on many years ago....
It is painted black on the other side.....
To the left when you walk in the front door....
I have my umbrellas handy.....
I decorated the Grandmother's hutch, that I refinished and added mirrors to right here in this spot, and the shelves on each side of it in a religious Easter theme again this year.....
I
changed over the candles in the angel votive cups ( there are angels imprinted in the glass votive cups) on the brass sconces from the red ones
that I had for Christmas and Valentine's to the aqua Spring/Summer ones ....
I had bought the crosses on these shelves at Dollar Tree last year.....
"Bless This Home"
I added peach florals, a gold egg and berries and an Easter lamb....
A vintage smoking stand holds my keys....
I placed an arrangement of peach and ivory flowers, along with a lighted branch, in the brass can that I have had for 40 years....
Last year, I bought a few things that had more of religious theme for Easter.....
I have taken pictures with both the lights and candles on and off.....
I ordered a set of 4 religious table top signs for Easter from Amazon last year.....
The top of the hutch....
Last year, I bought a set of these lights from Amazon and ran them along the top of the Hutch....

Joe bought the egg topiaries on clearance one year in Big Lot's for 90% off and I added a set of fairy lights to them......
I placed the "He Is" sign on the left side....
In the middle.......
I bough the ceramic cross at a church flea market a few years back......
The Happy Easter sign was also bought on clearance.....
I placed the "Risen" sign on the right side....
"He is Risen"
I display my white Angel collection in this hutch....
They came in sets of 2, purchased at Sam's Club, over 25 years ago...

The top shelf....

I placed some white lilies on top of the clock that holds Joe's ashes
along with the cross that was gifted to me at his Funeral Service by our
priest........
I also changed out the gold chenille runner on top of the hutch for a lace one with fringes....
Which I bought on Ebay many years ago....
On the right side of the hutch....
Another Dollar Tree cross on this shelf....
I love this tour! Thanks and have a wonderful day, Virginia

Such beautiful vignettes! The broken leg story is familiar. My parent's condo backed up to what we called the cliff. Personally I only exited the back door directly onto a patio and reentered the same way. My father decided he needed bird feeders out there and lost his footing filling one. He broke his ankle and had to have rods and screws put in. It was pretty to look at, but not safe to walk.
ReplyDeleteYou really have some lovely pieces, Deb. That was a great idea about the tile in your entry. We have one door that we use mostly to get in and out, too, but also have a door from the garage that opens into the utility room. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I am so sorry to hear about Joe. I used to follow your blog but got side tracked with life and am just seeing your posts today. What a shock to read of his passing. Lost my hubby last May...he fought cancer for 14 years. So glad you are keeping busy with your beautiful home. I don't blog but email is r64k64@gmail.com.
ReplyDeleteKay,
DeleteI am so sorry to hear of your husband's passing...14 years is a long time....Joe started not feeling well and we thought he had a GI virus and within 5 weeks, he was gone....It helps for me to keep busy....I hope you are doing okay...

It's wonderful how you are going all in with worshipping Jesus our Savior at the celebration of his resurrection.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!

Hi Debbie - I found you through Pink Saturday and am so glad. I love Victorian decor and you have some lovely things and a flair for putting them together. I love the idea of using a smoking stand for a key holder!! Very creative! Hugs to you in the loss of the love of your life. You are blessed to have those happy memories to comfort you. I hope you'll stop by Gail-Friends for a visit at Golden Cottage
ReplyDeleteI love the "He is Risen" decor! I have moved entirely from bunnies and spring-related decor to He is Risen-type decor for Easter. Since Easter can be in March or in April, I decorate the other month with spring-y flowers and bunnies and chicks, and the Easter month solely with faith-filled Easter joy. :) Visiting from Talking About it Tuesdays.
