Hello furbulous library guests
and
Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ
Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and if mew were here last week, and know about the Prudence saga, I'm ready to reveal the cunning plan that Princess Erin and I devised earlier in the week. However, if mew missed it, click here to catch up on the events.
So after last week's letter and photo, Melvyn ran off, initiated a CODE RED in the bunker and locked himself in.
Anyhoo, I called Erin to ask her sage advice, and this is how the conversation went.
"Erin, it's Amber, I've got a bit of a situation."
"Amber, how lovely to hear from mew, how can I help?"
I quickly explained the series of events while Erin listened intently. And after I'd finished recounting everything, Erin said. "Oh my, what an absolute shambles!"
"Tell me about it, do mew have any idea how we can mitigate it?"
"Hmmmm..." Erin pondered. "Let me see, I think Prudence needs to find a Melvyn substitute to latch onto and sink her claws into."
"Mew read my mind, but where on earth are we going to find a willing victim, sorry participant to engage in this deception?" I asked.
Me feeling rather smug about the plan! MOL
"Ahhhh," I replied with a smirk. "I like where mew're going with this."
"Anyhoo, Bonza, he's a bit rough around the edges but is used to dealing with pushy, overbearing Sheila's, and he's a really supurr chap. Let me talk to him and get back to mew. Just email me all her details."
"No worries!" I replied.
>^.^<
Two hours later...
"Amber," Erin said as I picked up the phone. "Good News! It's all set, Bonzer is really looking forward to a challenge. So he's going to email her a photo of himself, using the email address mew sent me earlier."
"Really?" I said.
"Oh yes, he's quite the mancat," Erin chuckled. "And if Prudence is what mew say she is. She'll be on the hook before mew can say, I'll have a sherry and a nice bit of carrot cake!"
I laughed. "Oh Erin, mew are a star!"
"I'll call mew in a day or two and let mew know if Bonza has succeeded, and that hopefully poor little Melvyn is safe again," Erin added.
"Thanks furry much, I really appreciate it," I said. "And don't forget we've got that Zoom Bridge game next Tuesday!"
>^.^<
And that's how I've left it, and so far in the last two days, there have been no more unexpected parcels or salacious and overtly provocative letters arriving from Dear Prudence. I'll see Erin on Tuesday, and catch up on all that has been happening, and I'll update mew all next week.
So paws crossed, Melvyn's got a reprieve, Prudence has got a new fixation down under, and the Mewton-Clawson Library can return to normal... all being well... and if Bonza pulls this off, he can have free book downloads forever! MOL
Oh, and Erin will of course, get a rather lovely Furnom and Meowson gift hamper arriving as a huge thank mew from me.
Until next week's chapter.... and don't forget to wish Bonza luck!

The P.A.'s answers are...
1. I enjoy talking to all kinds of people, you never know what you may learn.
2. I put together a special goodie bag for a stray kitty called Thomas, that is something kind I did recently. He was recently taken to a cat rescue with an injury, and he's doing ok, but is a little unhappy, so The B Team have sent him a bag full of goodies to assist his healing and assimilation while he hopefully gets a new home.
3. I wish I could ------ without any repercussions. I have no answer for this, my philosophy is to keep calm and carry on as best as possible and not worry.
4. I’ve been complimented on my writing but criticized for my writing too! Well, you can't please all the readers all of the time. And I say, write what floats your boat, and talking cats with a bunker, with more weapons than the U.K. military and epic adventures with oodles of action, tension, explosions and beating the bad guys is what does it for me! LOL
Let's see what I've got to show mew this time!

A Case of Cat and Mouse
Magical Cats Book 12
by
Sofie Kelly
Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:
A reality TV crew has come to town and brought librarian Kathleen Paulson and her two magical cats more than their fair share of real-life drama, in the newest installment of this New York Times bestselling series.
Spring has come to charming Mayville Heights, and with it, some Hollywood glamour. The little town is abuzz because the reboot of a popular baking TV show is filming there. Librarian Kathleen Paulson is working as an advisor on historical facts for the show, local restaurants are providing catering for the camera crews, and Kathleen's faithful felines, Hercules and Owen, are hoping there is a cat treat challenge.

Mew may remember earlier last year, I rediscovered this pawesome series, and I was on a mission to review the entire Magical Cats Mystery series before the end of 2024 - NOPE, that didn't happen! MOL I'm now going to say that by the end of the current review season in July 2025, that should give me plenty of time! MOL
Here are my previous reviews:
If mew’re looking for a delightful mix of feline magic and murder most foul, look no further! A Case of Cat and Mouse takes us back to the charming town of Mayville Heights, where librarian Kathleen Paulson and her two magical cats, the rather epic Hercules and Owen, are once again thrust into a whirlwind of mystery.
Spring has rolled in, bringing with it an air of excitement and a dazzle of Hollywood glamour. The town is buzzing like a whisker-twitching cat in front of a laser pointer, as reality TV crews have descended for the reboot of a popular baking show. Kathleen’s in her element, offering her expertise on historical facts, while the local eateries are cashing in on the catering frenzy. And let’s not forget the charming cat treat challenge Hercules and Owen are secretly hoping for — because what’s a cat without their treats, right?
But just when things seem to be going purrfectly, the plot thickens with a dead judge! Cue the dramatic music! Kathleen’s luck seems to have hit a snag, but with Hercules and Owen by her side, she isn’t one to back down from a challenge. Their supernatural abilities add a sprinkle of magic to the amateur sleuthing. Together, they weave through a cake of suspects like pros, peeling back layers of deception that would impress any great pastry chef.
The writing has that perfect blend of warmth and wit, making mew feel right at home in Mayville Heights. Kathleen, who embodies the spirit of a fierce librarian with a knack for solving mysteries, all while juggling her two adorable companions who steal the show and a few hearts. The humour woven into the narrative keeps the pages turning, and the plot twists are as satisfying as a slice of freshly baked catnip pie.
In a world where reality TV can often overshadow authenticity, this book reminds us that even in the most scripted scenarios, life has a way of throwing in unexpected twists—and perhaps a murder or two! So curl up with a cup of your favourite brew, and prepare for a charming mystery that feels as comforting as a cozy evening with fuzzy furiends.
If mew’ve been following Kathleen and her magical cats, this latest installment is an absolute treat. And if mew’re new to the series, fear not! Mew’ll find yourself captivated by the enchanting adventures that await. So grab your detective hat and get ready for a cat-astrophic adventure filled with laughter, love, and just the right amount of suspense!

I like the plan for helping Melvyn, as long as Bonza knows what he's letting himself in for. I still think Melvyn might do well with a few visits to a counselor to get him over the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your PA writes what she likes as I enjoy it immensely.
Your review sounds great and thank you for linking up with Feline Friday!
No flies on you, Amber!
ReplyDeleteKathleen always solves the mystery before the police do.
Wow, so much intrigue! Amber, you are a busy girl, sorting everything out, with Erin's help! Great book review, too! And, good fill ins!
ReplyDeleteGood luck Bonza, in so many ways! How sweet for the poor kitty hurt and we hope soon adopted. If each of could please every one every day, well, wouldn't that be the day!
ReplyDeleteWell done Amber and Erin for coming to Melvyn's rescue. I hope the plan works well. I would never criticise your writing, I enjoy your stories immensely. That sounds like another great read.
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful sweet Amber and Erin is such a wonderful friend to help out. Those were good fill-in answers and a fabulous book review too!

It does sound like an interesting story. Thank you to the PA for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I can't believe anyone would criticize her writing though. It is amazing. XO
