Spring Slimline Card

Are you as ready for spring as I am? It can’t get here soon enough but, still a little ways off where I live. So, in the meantime I’m making a Spring Slimline Card with lots of colorful card stock from CutCardStock! And, I’m adding black and gold to make these colors pop!

Flower Dies, Sentiment Die, Border Die, Embossing Folder, Adhesive

Creating a Focal

I am using the Large Die Set of the Month for January, Botanical Atrium, from Spellbinders for my focal.

Start by die cutting the atrium frame out of the Gold Bright FOIL 10 pt Card Stock . Then cut the solid backing piece out of Classic Crest DUPLEX Epic Black – Solar White 120lb Cover wt.

Next I die cut a variety of flowers, foliage and butterflies out of the pink, purple, blue and green card stocks.

Assemble flowers.

Begin arranging and adhering florals to the black back piece of the atrium.

Finish adding the florals.

Add the atrium frame over the top of the florals. Adhere the 3 tiny butterflies to the frame.

Card Base

My slimline card base measures 4 x 9 inches. Cut a piece of the Classic Crest DUPLEX Epic Black – Solar White 120lb Cover wt to 8 x 9 inches. Score at 4 inches along the 8 inch side and fold.

Cut a piece of DCS Discount Card Stock: Canvas Textured Mantis Green Card Stock to 3 3/4 x 8 3/4 inches.

Emboss the top part of the Mantis Green piece with an embossing folder.

Adhere the green piece to the center of the card base.

Die cut two border pieces out of black card stock for the top and bottom of the card. Cut a sentiment and shadow piece out of black and gold.

Narrow gold strips will add a little something extra to the two black border pieces. Cutting a third, wider gold strip will cover the bottom of the embossing.

Adhere the borders and the gold pieces.

Completing the Card

To complete the card design adhere the focal piece to the center of the card with foam tape.

The sentiment goes beneath the focal piece. Adding with foam tape gives dimension.

I am so happy with the overall design of this Spring Slimline Card and hope you like it.
