The three cards in this
post were all inspired by this month’s
sketch for the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers (BYSHC) challenge on
Facebook. I really like this challenge because it encourages me to use up many
of my treasured paper scraps… and also to get an early start on building up my supply of Christmas cards each year!
For this card, I used a digi set from Beccy’s Place named “Gnomes In My Garden.” One of the many things I
enjoy about Beccy Muir’s digis is that she gives her characters lots of
personality, and even names them. So… please allow me to introduce you to Nigel. On this card he is sharing Christmas blessings by the light of a vellum
embellished lantern!

The cute cookies on this card are from a Beccy’s Place retired digi set named,
appropriately, “Gingerbread.” They look excited for the holidays, as do the
little gingerbread people embellishing the inside of the card.
An added note- Sadly,
Beccy Muir, artist/owner of Beccy’s Place, is discontinuing her digi line on
June 30th (she explains the reasons for this difficult
decision HERE.)
So, if you have plans to add any of her digi sets to your collection, or have
any gift cards you need to use, you have several months to go digi shopping. In
addition, Beccy added a “Digital Stamp Sale”
section to her shop, in which she has posted a large number of digis and sets
from the past, priced from $3.00 to as low as 31¢ (US rate.) Since I often use
sentiments from Beccy’s digi sets on my cards, I made sure to pay attention not
just to the images but also the sentiments in the sets as I filled my cart with
these treasures before they are gone forever! (Sad sigh!) Supplies:
·
Digi and sentiments are from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Gingerbread) This set is now available for just $4 [US rate].

I had fun creating a nativity card using the sketch plus lots of
treasures from my stash! The wonderful image was made with an old, might I even
call it vintage, wood mounted rubber stamp from D.O.T.S. (Dozens Of Terrific Stamps.) I love the cute
little people and critters in the scene! I used a shape stencil to trace a circle
around the stamped image to reflect the sketch shapes. After adhering the night sky
paper strips to create the “sky” and grounding the nativity image beneath it. I
enlarged the “Joy” sentiment to fit across the sky, fussy-cut the letters and
traced them onto vellum. I then traced the scraps of sparkly/holographic clear self-stick laminate from
my stash. (See some info on sources in the supply list.)

Supplies:
·
Rubber Stamp Image- “Christmas Nativity” from D.O.T.S. (Dozens
Of Terrific Stamps, which I’m pretty sure is no longer in business)
·
Colored with Spectrum
Noir Classique markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white, gold, silver, and sparkle gel
pens
· Front
Sentiment “Joy” from a Beccy’s Place
Digi Set (Snowman)
· Inside Sentiment-
“May the Miracle of Christmas…” from a
Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Peace and Joy)
·
Gold photo corners available from several web sources (WXJ13 Photo Mounting
Corners)
·
Night sky patterned papers and sparkly star stickers from Hobby Lobby
·
Sparkly/holographic clear self-stick laminate from my stash. (I‘ve seen
it on Etsy, and other sources on the web, including Temu. (I’d suggest you
avoid buying from Temu as that company that is notorious for stealing stamp/die
images, causing hardship to several of our favorite stamp companies. The
company is also known to be tied to scams and ID theft cases. Details Here and Here)
·
Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.
·
Other misc. items and tools from my stash.
