I am thankful that the deli worker called me miss instead of ma’am (I hate that word) and the man in front of me at the convenience store called me young lady. I felt old when just last week, a grocery store cashier called me madam. I felt like asking him if I look like I run a brothel?
And Bridget and Ethel are thankful for each other.

Myself, I don’t mind the ma’am so much but I feel like I’m ancient when someone would call me Madam…
I guess they think they are being respectful, when they don’t know your name.

I don’t know. Sometimes I think if they call me “miss” they’re being condescending. Though madam is definitely a no unless they are English or something.

In the South, Ma’am and Sir don’t mean you are old, simply that you are respected as an adult.

Did you hear me giggling at run a brothel.
I went to new balance recently for new walking shoes. The dag blasted employee there kept calling me ‘friend ‘. In every sentences that came out of his mouth. friends they look good on you, friend do you want to wear them out if the store. I was about to call out my unfriendly alter ego

I found anytime someone calls me a “Young Lady” is by someone who’s obviously older than me. It makes me giggle inside. Being called “Ma’am” while respectful makes me feel old. Isn’t that funny?
