A little trip into the wonderland
of Pinterest and a lovely new
scrap burner has been discovered.
We are in the midst of a cold spell here
so it is a good day to start a new project!
This design lends itself very well
to strips and is turning out to be a
very good time!
Made up of isosceles triangles set
end to end form diamonds,
the big piles of colors surrounding
my sewing machine makes me
feel like the miller's daughter!
This triangular block uses up
lots of strings of all sizes.
Each top will use about 100
blocks. There are 60 in the
stack so far but there are still
four colors to go!
The design boards are getting
put to good use. Piling up a
stack of blocks laid out
makes the stitching fast and fun.
The goal is to sew thru the piles completely
without returning them to storage!
I will make a good run at them,
and there will definitely be more than
one top made out of this wealth of scraps.
Stay safe and sew on!

DeleteSpring is on the way... so I hear ;) I love a good scrap buster. Thanks for sharing in my Sew & Tell party.
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome. Still cold here though, spring is a ways off for us!
DeleteYikes -- you make my 23 sound warm! So far we haven't been in negative numbers and I hope we never are! I like your scrap buster action. I'm assuming you are sewing the strips together and then cutting the diamonds. Neat idea. And, I bet it really busts a lot of scraps.
ReplyDeleteIt sure does, I sew the graduated strips and then cut the diamond shape. It uses
Deleteup small pieces that way also. It is weirdly fun to sew thru a pile of color! Yay quilting , always full of surprises!
You are so well organized, you'll be burning through those scrap piles in no time! Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

As long as I don't get distracted!!! Argh the mystery got me but I will be back on the scrap burners in no time!
DeleteWhen the temperature is nippy, and Deb I think -31 portrayed as nippy is understatement, then hunkering down and sewing is great choice. Even better is eliminating scraps by string piecing triangles.
ReplyDeleteThank you, we still have snow here but the temps are climbing! Happy Stitching!
DeleteOMG that's cold, Deb! And we think single digit wind chills are frigid...and they are here in the south! LOL our scrappy triangles look great. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
ReplyDeleteThe triangles are very fun, happy stitching!
DeleteWow, your new project looks like a great scrap buster, those triangles are beautiful and fun to make! Stay warm while sewing them, the weather is not friendly!! Love your design boards to keep your organized. Thank you for sharing, and linking up!
ReplyDeleteA very cool way to use up those odds and ends. Hope you can work through those plies of scraps quickly.
