Lynn made this first quilt⤵️ to celebrate her brother's retirement! She was so enthusiastic in making the blocks that she made enough for her brother's quilt plus two more throw quilts!!!💛
Quilt Info #1:
Maker: Lynn
Pattern: Kimberly from GE Designs
Size: 77" x 95"
Batting: Quilters Dream 80/20
Thread: Glide--Cleopatra
Lynn's brother picked out the fabrics and colors himself from Lynn's collection. He said he was going for an English Pub look. Btw, he doesn't drink and he doesn't live in England. But this is what sparked joy for him!
Btw, Gudrun has a teaching video on how to make this block on her website, here.
Lynn had the brilliant idea to frame this quilt in the red background blocks!⤵️ The four corners and the middle blocks are all maroon red blocks, to give it some stability.
Quilt Info #2:
Maker: Lynn
Pattern: Kimberly from GE Designs
Size: 51" x 68"
Batting: Quilters Dream 80/20

Lynn picked a honeycomb minky backing for this quilt. She wanted a yellow and that's what was available at the store she visited. It has a neat embossed texture but it does seem lighter weight than regular minky, for what it's worth. This is yellow--it can be difficult to capture the minky color on camera!⤵️
This is a fun quilting design featuring birds, leaves and bubbles!🫧⤴️ You can see the proper yellow minky color in this photo.⤵️Quilt Info #3:

These two quilts are going to sisters, so I wanted a different pantograph with a similar feeling. This design has berries, leaves, pods and rainbows!⤵️
Lynn had a clever way of sorting out the colors in these two quilts. She was going for the gold & red look for this sister's quilt.⤵️This sister is getting an orange and white-ish quilt.⤵️
Here are the two sisters quilts! They haven't gotten them yet. But Lynn reports that her brother loves his new retirement quilt!!!
Wonderful, cuddly gift quilts, Lynn!!!

What lovely quilts and quilting! Isn't is amazing how color changes the same pattern in a quilt?
ReplyDeleteNice quilting, the different designs on each one are fun. This was quite a productive time!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors Lynn's brother chose! And I really like that pattern. Using Minky just adds such fun, each of the quilts is so pretty. And your choices for pantos are perfect, as usual. I especially love Abundance!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking quilts and that used up a bit of fabric! I have never done that block, I should try it sometime.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colorful quilts !|
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week !

Those are beautiful quilts! I love the Fall colors - I have the print with birds, oak leaves, and acorns in my stash. That's so great that your friend enjoyed making those blocks so much that she made enough for three quilts!
ReplyDeleteBa Da Bing is really a striking design. Great choice!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilting designs, all three!
ReplyDeleteThese are fun versions of the same quilt. I love the idea of the red border squares, very effective. The quilting is so much fun. I forgot about BaDaBing and really love that panto.
ReplyDeleteWell, that's what I call "happy work". The tops look wonderful... the quilting is wonderful.
